He writes that a bill has been submitted to the Rada, which proposes:
▪️ to forbid all military personnel to talk about domestic politics;
▪️ to prohibit all military personnel from being deputies of any level;
▪️ to transfer from the Commander-in-Chief to the Minister of Defense the function of submitting the appointment of the Chief of the General Staff and command services of the Armed Forces.

Yesterday, these amendments to the draft law "On Strengthening Democratic Civil Control over the Armed Forces of Ukraine" were rejected. However, they can still be considered at a meeting of Parliament.

I worked a guy who went backpacking in Pakistan's Tribal Area between tours, but I always suspected that was a work-related trip. I actually have no idea what it's like to travel in these areas, on your own, safely. You know, you hear about those Danish kids who were killed in the Atlas mountains or whatever. Mostly, though, I would think that everybody there would think you were working for somebody, because there are no tourists, and there are no tourists because everybody thinks it's dangerous, and that kind of feedback loop complicates things.

How many backpackers (or "backpackers"?) have they caught sneaking into Iran now? It would be nice to see Hecatompylos, Persepolis, Rhagae, all of these really cool sites, but I don't know how you would swing it. I did my entire education, or rather other than Defence and War Studies, on places I won't be able to visit in MENA because of my work history. I would love to visit, ideally join a dig at, the Dead Cities. Everybody I spoke to who dug there only had amazing things to say about the places and people, but if I showed up in the region between Aleppo and Idlib, I feel like it would be hard to convince anyone of my innocence.

I suppose what I'm saying is that it would be nice to just drink chai and spend some money in these places, but you can hardly blame them for thinking you're there to liaise with guys in the Panjshir, or ISIS, if we're being honest.
