Thunderbird 2 didn't have to go fast because the party didn't start until it arrived.

They did a great job of making Thunderbird 2 look big, given that it's a model. The shape of it, the sound of it's engines spooling up etc. Feels beefy.

Was by far my favourite when I was a kid, think I was the only one, most kids liked TB1 because it was fast. Lame.

This is probably my biggest complaint about the recent CGI Thunderbirds remake - Thunderbird 2 did not feel as big as it should have done as felt a lot faster than it should be.

Although I will say that despite the new series setting itself up to be horrific, aside from a few characterization choices it ended up really enjoyable and a strong remake of the series.

This is my main gripe with Mario & Rabbids too. Basically the only way to complete levels is to move and use skills in the exact spot they want you too.

That Thunderbirds stuff was cool as hell. I’ve never seen it and I always imagined something a bit more shoddily put together. But holy hell those models and the puppetry are REALLY well done. Some next level stuff. There’s serious weight to everything. Even the ocean feels like the actual ocean and not some little pool in a studio.

But also lol @ 9m00 they knew exactly what they were doing.

It's worth seeking out the old show if you enjoyed the model work. So long as you don't mind everything being very, very slow-paced. And some weirdness due to time period. Lady Penelope is fun though.

From the elaborate launch and transformation sequences of signature vehicles to colour-coded teams of five, you'd be surprised.

It's also funny looking back at Japanese Spider-man, realising it predates Super Sentai/Power Rangers as tights-clad superheroes who can also summon giant robots... and starring teenagers who juggle everyday life in high school and extracurriculars and relationships with saving the world from dastardly villains.

The whole movie is on youtube. Here's the Zero X scene, just so over the top. They knew what people were coming to see.

Lady Penelope feels like they just took all the cliches that were taken for granted back then and decided to crank them up to ridiculous awesome anyway.

There's also an episode where giant mutated alligators are played by real, live baby alligators.

Also apparently Gerry Anderson was pretty amused by Team America, and thought its riffing on his old stuff was more true to the spirit of it than the then current and very immediately forgotten live-action Thunderbirds movie.

I don't know which is my favourite, the slide that you go down head first, only for it to stop you half way so it can rotate you so you're going down feet first.
Or the couch that slowly lowers into the hanger, slowly scoots across the floor and slowly rises into the rocket ship so now you have a high tech rocket ship with a really comfy couch just sitting in the middle of the cockpit.
The fact that there is a standby couch waiting to replace the first one is just gold.

The second to last game. The character is Kung Jin, relative of Kung Lao. But yeah, there was a tiny amount of controversy about him, not terribly much since he wasn't that popular a character anyway.
There was also a little bit of whining about Mileena and Tanya being a couple, I think? I dunno, I didn't go out of my way to search for it.

A lot of that poo poo is very easy to ignore if you don't go looking for it, or media doesn't decide to actively amplify it for some reason.

As much as it's generally the nazis starting it there's definitely a horrible symbiotic relationship between the two flavours of clickbait and culture warriors.

They skipped over that one (mkx) and attempted to create a shitstorm in the most recent one (mk11) for a number of dumb reasons, mostly around the female side of the cast having more realistic proportions and marginally less skimpy outfits and Jax having an ending where he goes back in time, ends slavery, and literally says we have to be woke lol

Despite their endless cheers of "go woke go broke" it ended up being one of the best fighting game sellers of all time only behind a few smash bros games and street fighter 2. In certain corners of the internet there are still chuds in total denial that think mk11 must have flopped due to its wokeness
