SUCK A DICK, DUMBSHITS!

Shadow and Bone season 2 is off to a great start so far. I am glad that they continue to spend half the runtime on the much cooler characters from a completely different book series. The Crows carry this show on their shoulders.

If they got rid of the main girl entirely and just followed the exploits of the steampunk heist crew it would honestly be a way better show.

Swarm's really good two episodes in, but I'm not a fan of them pixelating the nudity. That's a weak move.

Abbott Elementary has 22 episodes this season and I’m sure there’s a ton of other network shows that still have that season length. People just don’t talk about them because they’re presumably mediocre.

Just checked The Rookie at random and that has 22-episode seasons still.

Abbott is good but Rookie is not.

Yeah good capper to that storyline, I was actually wondering if they were going to pivot and let it be a charter school and set a season there and happy with the resolution. Also I was googling the same names as Jacob the whole show lmao, they got me good

I can't say I'm a fan but I'm in for a pound of pennies at this point. Copaganda to the max, over the top cases with "good guys" getting it done, a goofy puppet master serial killer with punchable smug smirk, but I don't hate the main rookies and like Nathan Fillion, and I have to believe me and the monitors are having a good time listening to me scoff and giggle. Just not the kind of thing I can reccomend to normal people

That puppet master serial killer won't be back since the actress has since passed away.

False. There is only one electron and it has never stopped
Only puppet master serial killer I want to watch is Jessica Fletcher.

e: Speaking of smug criminals, I wonder if having flamboyant Moriarty played by Andrew Scott in the BBC Sherlock will with time be seen as progressive or the death knells of making the villian gay?

Okay well RIP, that actress made me hate that character with more intensity than I felt for anyone else on the show good or bad so far. I'm only on season 2, so she's still around but in jail and they occasionally still contrive some reason to go be taunted and toyed with by her lol.

Hah, sometimes that's the way to do it. I watched 1XXX from the Yellowstone suite of shows, but skipped the other 1XXXs and Yellowstone of course. As far as I can tell, watching the main show or other spinoffs could only make me retroactively dislike the one I did enjoy.

Is 9-1-1 a serious reimagining of Reno 911, in the same way Bel Air is for the Fresh Prince?

This might be your country cos I just saw that Culkin sibling’s squished dick with none of that.

e: oh ok yeah it is there in episode 2. I think that’s probably because he’s actually jacking off and there’s rules about that being closer to porn as opposed to just a shot of a dick

The character never read as "gay" or particularly flamboyant to me, I can't remember if he is even gay on the show. Personally, I love his performance, absolutely love it.

No, because 9-1-1 takes place in California.

It is pretty ridiculous though, the most recent episode had one of the characters in a coma after being struck by lighting, 90% of the episode takes place in an alternate universe where he never became a fire fighter.

I think despite revolving around fire fighters, they only actually fight one fire per season.

I liked GLOW but it seemed like Marc Maron's character lost some of his edge after S1. Still a really good show all around though.

A double feature with GLOW and Brockmire is a fun time. I don't think I ever finished the latter come to think of it.

Willow growling out "NOCKMAR" lives rent free in my head all day every day

zoux
Apr 28, 2006

I didn't watch willow so this isn't about that show specifically, but I wonder how much the *extremely* random renewal schedules and season schedules are loving with the viewerships for these shows. It was axiomatic in 90s and 00s that it was the constant shuffling of shows schedules killed off a bunch of promising programs, and it's even worse now. Instead of waiting 3ish mos. between seasons, it can be years. One nice thing about the Old Ways was: It's September, all your shows are coming back, now, nothing is on a schedule like that. COVID exacerbated it for sure but it's not getting any better. Chad Coleman did an interview the other day where he said he's "pretty sure" s4 of the Orville is happening, but given production times we'd be at least two years out if they started the ball rolling today. I'm generally a lot rosier on the State of Television than your average TVIV poster but this is one thing about the new paradigm that I hate.

When it's all said and done, Stranger things is going to be a show that has five seasons aired over nine years.

DO YOU HEAR THAT? THAT'S THE SOUND OF ME PATTING MYSELF ON THE BACK.

Yeah, I'm getting tired of trades instantly jumping to the conclusion that show=cancelled simply because talent was released from contracts. With the long production times for stuff anymore and the on and off again production schedules, it's simply not a tried and true indicator anymore.

It’s definitely an issue when big gaps between seasons of a show can cause people to forget about it. I know a lot of people who never watched Mr. Robot season 4 because of the gap. Funnily enough I didn’t see the same dropoff with Atlanta even though it had the longest gap possibly because the fanbase for that one was mad passionate

Mandolorian is a great example of this: two smash hit series released at christmas, then next christmas it's a spin off? of mandalorian but oops it's also half the mandolorian. And then 15 months to release season 3 in March.
