I really find it charming when he offers the dinner a bite on a fork, and when our favorite rotund gentleman (I think that's who it was) fed bites of cheese to a foreign couple who just happened to be passing by. There's such a pride and pure joy in their food that they just have to share it, and something intimate about them actually feeding it to people, even if it's just one bite. There didn't seem to be any expectation of "now come in and buy something," either. That said, I'm not sure how I'd feel if someone tried to do that to me.
