I’m reminded when I was a kid I read the first of the Myst novels and thought it was really cool. I found it recently and it did not seem well written but I still thought THE LORE was interesting. The lore being books linking to different worlds, and a civilization based around this power. It did not include any of the aforementioned hosed up poo poo, but it was a prequel to Myst instead of the sequel; Riven.

Normally that means having knowledge of other player's hidden roles, or night phase actions. This game was special in that the hidden night phase information was 1 on 1s with the DM and included torture scenes, and stashed sex doll clones. I did the separate chat room thing with some goons in a werewolf game, and having 3 people working together with shared information put at us like 90% to win each game. The only times we wouldn't win is when we'd get picked off ASAP for winning too much.

I recall every middle-aged online person tweeted a whole lot about how everyone had to follow them when russia invaded last year

There was once a GBS(?) thread where some goon was giving a live report about his lawyer wife's stalker/harasser that eventually ended up with goons digging too deep and touching the poop which got the thread hidden away because it might interfere with the court case if the guy actually knew about it. Was there ever any kind of resolution to that whole saga or did it just fade out into the unknown?

The stalker found his (Drunk Nerds) thread and it negatively impacted the ongoing litigation from what I understand. Initially, DN said he would post an update when everything was over but it has been well over a year now so that ship has probably sailed.

The Caro story is wild but makes it even more hosed up is that a British guy was probably killed by the Syrians in retaliation for letting the outside world know Caro was being held by them. IIRC the details were the other guy and Caro had made a pact to tell the outside world about the existence of each other if one got out first. The British guy was somehow able to get a visit from his relatives and told them about Caro, and they told the American government (up to that point the Syrians had been keeping Caro's captivity a secret). The other guy's treatment got steadily worse until one day the Syrians were like "oops, he killed himself, sorry" and shipped his body back to the UK. None of this came to light until years later when Caro gave an interview to some media outlet.
