What is it with people signaling IN to a traffic circle? Like, where the gently caress else are you going? I constantly see people with signal on into and inside the circle, then switch the signal to exit. I don’t get it at all.

That's exactly what you are supposed to do if you are say taking the 3rd exit on a 4-way roundabout

Yeah here it's not mandatory but encouraged to signal into the circle if you're turning 270 degrees. You have to signal on exit though but most people don't when going straight cause they don't know the rules.

If you know which lane exits where you can be good to go. Howeverrrrrr this means you also have to assume the person heading towards you knows where the lanes exit which is obviously not always the case. I've seen so many drivers try to cross over 3 lanes to get to an exit far too often. Going round again is never an option, it's best to just try and drive through whatever is in your way apparently.

If you are not sure should you drive around it once and count the exits? It seems much more simpler to only signal right when you are about to exit.

I turn on my hazards as I enter the roundabout to indicate I will be maneuvering erratically

If you're drifting, its more likely they would see your off-side turn signal. Why yes, I do still use my signal when drifting.

The only time you don't indicate as you enter is if you're going straight through. If it's a 5 way or weird angle and you're not "technically" going straight? I dunno, either do the extra indicating or bow to whatever specific local custom develops around that particular roundabout. It's just an extra flick of your fingers, it's not hard.

This is pretty much how it works in the UK (although directions reversed) and you basically signal the direction you intend to turn when you enter the roundabout and then signal out as you are about to leave the roundabout. I'm not sure about where you live but roundabouts in the UK are clearly labeled and diagramed before you enter so you know exactly where you need to go and lanes are clearly marked.

Don't worry, in the US they don't always have good signage and sometimes change layouts from what you expect: And if you think that looks confusing: there's currently no markings on the road because 2 winters have worn them away.

Having grown up near the Scilly Isles roundabout I need to point out that the direction in which it is being approached in that image also contains a staggered junction before the main roundabout. Of course none of this matters if there is a race meeting on at Sandown since you are not going anywhere anyway.

Every other roundabout I've seen has two lanes that go all the way around, and if you're doing a "left" or "u-turn", you stay in the left lane. People in the US are bad enough at roundabouts that I think consistency is important. Plus having 2 in and 1 out lane in spots seemed odd to me. But I'm not a traffic engineer, so I might just be grasping at straws.

It's the extra right turn lane at the top and the single lane only exit at the bottom that are weird, but without knowing the wider context and traffic flows, who knows. Certainly it's more complicated than it needs to be, and probably for maintaining traffic flow at all costs over everything else reasons.

No picture, but you know what I think is some terrible car stuff? When someone gets a custom license plate and it's just their car make or model. Down the street from me there's a 18BMWM3 and today I followed a MODEL TT. Like talk about a failure of imagination! You're spending the money to customize your car but you can't think of a single little phrase or sentiment that's unique to yourself? You just want a second copy of what it already says on the back? gently caress's sake. The only exception to this is the guy in my hometown who had seven or eight old MGs filling up his driveway and front yard, and every one of them had a license plate in the format MY73MGB, MY59MGA, MYMGBGT, etc. He's alright.
