You'll appreciate this anecdote of mine:

Like two or three years ago I was taking the subway to work and there were some like early 20-whatever kids near me just talking about whatever music. Anyway it was amusing because at one point one of them had confidently declared not liking a particular song because it sounded too much "like dad rock" and as soon as the phrase was used like always it made me think of a lot of late 60s and 70s music. A split second later they finished their sentence with "like Korn."

I withstood this blow.

But then I arrived at work and by coincidence a co-worker of mine who is like a year younger than me and has a 10 year old kid excitedly greeted me asking if I had heard the new Korn single that just came out at which point I immediately became like Donovan at the end of Last Crusade.

My son is eleven and he currently listens to Iron maiden, black Sabbath, Megadeth etc. Those were dad-rock bands when I was a teenager (that I also liked and listened to) so I can only imagine how ancient they must seem to him now.

Also it's been weird noting how the prevalent attitude to those kinds of bands have changed. They used to be quite looked down on by the mainstream culture but now they seem to be a lot more positively regarded. I think nostalgia plays a large part, but there's also that entire cottage industry of reaction video channels where people "discover" and react gushingly to a lot of these ancient rock&metal bands (although the cynical side of me always questions just how much of an act a lot of those reactive takes really are.)

I would probably suggest the atomization of consumption makes the concept of "being looked down on by the mainstream" just make less sense generally. Everyone can consume whatever they want whenever they want, so the idea of there being a single mainstream to set your interests by is just less coherent than it was a couple of decades ago.

And I've gone to live gigs of new bands playing metal music not all that different to Iron maiden, black Sabbath, Megadeth and depending on the venue, it will be mostly 18-25 year olds there. Like metal still a popular genre and not just amongst the olds.

A large majority of all modern music being available a couple of clicks away on the internet I think has changed a bit of how music trends and genres work these days.

Tucker Carlson said he ‘passionately’ hated Donald Trump, new Fox News lawsuit filings show
This is probably the least crazy take I saw.

It’s so absurd seeing people here pretend that this didn’t happen. Of course it did. These are legal filings. Dominion’s case would be instantly dismissed if they lied about something so obvious.

Carlson saying he hates Trump absolutely fits with him saying that Trump is a “demonic force.”

All of these people in so-called conservative media are actors. They have their own agenda which is to make money from people they think are rubes.

They work for Rupert Moloch and they do what he orders. And right now, he says to pimp for DeSantis.

“How is this discrediting him?”

It discredits him because it shows that his public persona is at odds with his real feelings. Why should that matter? I suppose you could argue that he’s a professional, and capable of preventing his personal feelings from interfering with his reporting. But the problem is, there’s much evidence to the contrary.

Do you know what controlled opposition is and how effective it can be at neutralizing the objectives of the people it purports to represent? Tucker has become very popular with MAGA conservatives, who believe he is an ally. And yet if you look closely at his reporting on key issues of the past few years, such as Hunter Biden and election fraud, you’ll see he’s not always what he appears to be at first glance.

Tucker has a history of waiting to report on controversial stories until it’s clear they’re about to break. Then he jumps out in front. In 2020, after the election, he stated that he didn’t believe the election was stolen, and did little to examine the evidence. What he did instead was defend those who were asking questions about the election. That’s a very different thing, but it can be easy to miss, especially with someone as skilled as Tucker. Tucker is very good at getting people to look elsewhere. I’ll give him credit for that. He’s good at what he does.

The reality is Donald Trump, Sydney Powell, and Mike Lindell have done more to cover up what happened in the 2020 election than all the Democrats and media put together.

Yep.

I don’t watch Tucker Carlson much because I don’t watch television or have cable, but I do look at his shows once in a while online, and I could care less if he hates Trump.

Don’t care.

If he speaks out about the injustice of 1/6 Prisoners, I’ll support him.

If he publicly questions why Pelosi can lock everyone down while she gets to go to a hair salon, I’m all ears.

If he speaks out about McConnell’s corruption, I’ll listen.

If he speaks out about the corrupted election process, I’ll tune in.

If he speaks out against the unspeakably deformed government agencies that are spying on us, I’ll watch.

Thing is, I hear very few people in positions of ANY power or influence ANYWHERE speaking out about these things. So, yeah. I’ll check out what he has to say.

I don’t care if he is in it for himself. I don’t care if he is in it for money. I don’t give a rat’s patootie if he laughed at a joke Hunter Biden says.

Don’t care.

I am willing to praise anyone, ANYONE who speaks out about the incredible destruction of this country in any way, does it in a public way, and has a wide platform to speak from.

People on here and other places can whine and cry and moan, about how fake Tucker Carlson is, how is isn’t one of us, how he is part of the uniparty, and so on, but they aren’t doing a drat thing other than crying or whining or moaning. Nobody hears them, and nobody cares.

And nothing could be stupider or more shallow than decrying someone who holds a position like Tucker does, because he hates Trump. Really? So, regardless of what an asswipe someone might be, as long as they like Trump then they are a-ok?

Talk about a lack of critical thinking.

If nothing else, looking at the wild backlash from people I detest going after Carlson tells me he has value. Because I know of at least one other person in the public sphere who evokes that same kind of reaction from my enemies those exact same people, and his name is Donald J. Trump.

Low IQ Hannity (who has supported every GOP figure from Bob Dole to George Bush, McCain, Romney, and then Trump- a weathervane par excellence) had Meatball Ron on his TV show last night after hosting Trump on his insipid radio show (was in the car so listened- disappointing program all around- Hannity sucking up and Trump droning on about his accomplishments). But, it’s undeniable that, he was the best president the country has had, at least in the last 100 years or so.

Trump may be unlikable as a person, but his actions as president is what people should pay attention to.

We don’t have to personally like a person, but, if that person performs in a way that benefits you and most other people, then, don’t deal with him/her in a personal way. Jimmy Carter was a likable person, but, I hated him as president.

Have you ever protested? Thought not.

Yes, I helped lead a contingent of Freepers to Tallahassee for several days in 2020, to protest the Bush/Gore recount. I made several large protest signs using real estate yard signs, then used some cool software to print out large pictures made of some of the images that Freeper Registered had made like Sore Looserman and Kangaroo Court. Those signs ended up in photos of us on the front page of UsA Today and other newspapers, and ultimately ended up in the Florida State Museum.

And I considered going to J6 but knew better. The votes were already decided, so it was going to inevitably break out into anger and fights with police, and lots of people going to jail. Cost/benefit was clearly not worth it, and I began to more clearly see how Trump’s vanity corrupts his judgement, and puts the conservative movement at risk. I’m not even convinced he will even be arrested Tuesday, either, so far all we have is Trump claiming it, when supposedly the grand jury hasn’t even voted to indict yet or not. But feel free to book your tickets if that’s what’s important to you. Just don’t be surprised if only a few nutcases show up.

Sound advice period
I saw myself on video too many times for me to have continued doing what I used to do period
I realized I was in a seriously backslidden state for about 10 years and I no longer Go out and protest and hold with a sign
It’s fairly obvious that our nation has already fallen and people just have to catch on to that point
It never was about the election of decent individuals into politics,. It was about whether the people themselves were honoring god in their lives
We now have a federal government and many liberals in the state governments and police forces. That will do anything that the media tells them to do because the democrats and the Communist leadership of these organizations are entirely godless and they will round up innocent. People simply because you are next to them
This is what tyranny looks like and they are not going to stop, in fact they’re going to make it a lot worse
I absolutely understand that freepers and many others who were just concerned citizens such as January 6 are not the violent ones at all but it’s going to. Be antifa dressed up in magazine forms. Who are gonna be going out? Doing the things that they normally do only this time they’re going to try and blame trump support.
Don’t do this and if concealed carry is legal in your state. Make sure you are wearing your weapon because the violence that the left is planning will affect. Everyone and it will be started at random and if you’re anywhere near the riots that they’re going to start. Then you’re going to be considered guilty if it looks like you showed up just to be a Patriot.

What if there is a rally and only the professional provocateurs and media showed up?

All that needs to be done there is video documentation of their fake provocations to be released immediately.

It’s all staged — see Jan. 6th — we just need the video documentation of the stage being set up. With that truth out there, they lose their persuasive media power.

It goes without saying, absolutely no violence on the part of real MAGA Patriots.

I was at the Chicago rally the first time Trump ran and saw first hand how the professional provocateurs operated. They wanted a riot and we wouldn’t give it to them. Instead they only got a disruption that the media tried to pump up to riot status — they failed and Trump got elected.

These professional provocateur idiots think we are stupid and not onto their games.

IMHO, let them be the only ones to show up.

IMO, shame on our generation for letting this happen. We need to take the lead on fixing it.

I think he was a good President back in 2017 and 2018 but he’s not someone I would protest for now.

We know.

So, why not take your REPEATED Trump disapproval to another thread, as you so often do?

This is a Pres Trump SUPPORT thread.

Golden Eagle is nothing more than a cheerleader for soft tyranny that's happening.

Wrong, I have defended Trump from unfair prosecutions for years on here. But as an uncompromising hard right conservative, I also don't like how Trump has continued to speak untruths himself, and defined deviancy down, which is damaging our long term ability to hold the high ground on important issues, both fiscal and social. He prohibits rational analysis by only ever speaking in absolutes, rather than trying to find the actual truth, which should be our goal.

I sincerely doubt he will even be arrested on Tuesday, as he's claiming, as well. His own lawyers have already come out today and said they've not been told that, or know anyone else who has. But if you're convinced he will be, and feel you should do what he's asking, then by all means go ahead and buy your tickets to fly to NY or Florida tomorrow and go protest on Tuesday. I won't stop you. I just won't be there, either.

I'll probably even take a few days off from here to see how this plays out, and people to settle down. I purposefully skipped the whole week of the J6 fiasco on here too, and was glad I did. We unfortunately lost SkyPilot over that fiasco, who was probably my favorite poster, but I understand and respect why he left. It's hard to sit here and debate with angry people who think Trump is the only answer to everything, when much of what he stands for is wrong.

***Also, if everyone supporting President Trump called in sick that day, I’m sure it would make an impression.

It’s time to start thinking outside the box***

Yes.

Wide spread protests of the old types will be advantageous to the left, not Trump.

Trump isn’t calling for widespread protests with thousands of people. That’s just playing into the Deep State’s hands.

We need to move away from what our enemies expect, the same old thing.

I could post my résumé here, I’ve been to hundreds of Tea Party rallies, as has our founder. Traveled across the county dozens of times. Rallies not ‘protests.’

That’s all the past.

Sick out and a day of not spending/buying (Tuesday, Trump Arrest Day.}

It’s a new day, time to not appease the left with masses of ppl for the Weaponized DOJ FBI etc etc to round up.

They are ready to suck all the info off of your phones tablets etc all across the country.

Plus I’m sure Xi has given Biden facial recognition software to track and dox us.

Buy no gas or anything next Tuesday!

So, we will not go shopping and will not order anything online or by phone Tuesday and the rest of the week.

I will fill up our gas tank tomorrow and get other possible stuff incase the SHTF on Tuesday!

A weird person, we know, sometimes living in the greater DC area and ???, is warning people of a 9/11/Pearl Harbor event tomorrow to distract us from NYC and Trump being arrested.

Things certainly have changed. Back in the early 2000s, I got hit with a flying plastic water bottle in DC, and got spat at in NY by one of the left’s lovely men. That was the worst of it, other than harsh words.

Today they’ll be throwing FROZEN water bottles or bricks. They’ll try to curb-stomp people into brain damage or death. And I am too old and fat and weak to outrun any of them now.

Remember what we saw during the “Summer of Love” two years ago,and expect the same crap to be done to you. Also expect the commies to get away with it. Again.

Sorry for the negativity. I just want people to be realistic about what they will be facing.

The simultaneous rhetoric about how the government needs to be overthrown and keep your powder dry along with "the people waiting outside are actually antifa, we would never do violence" is pretty funny.

Getting real close to a chud getting arrested while he's literally doing a crime and him screaming "IM NOT EVEN HERE!" and then the mind completely let's go of whatever thin thread of reality it's still clinging to.

I agree. I think a lot of the Right is just bluster. When it comes down to it, the days of Lexington and Concord are long long gone. People have their own interests and we let the Feds get way too powerful to the point that it compares to the tyranny before the Revolution. Arresting, releasing a mugshot, indicting, whatever… that won’t light any fuse. Sure there may be some rallies, maybe some people get baited into going too far, but beyond that? I don’t see it. It will take far more. Even if he gets jailed somehow without bail, there will be outrage but to what end? Any sort of action would need to be well organized and coordinated. I doubt many of us keyboard warriors have been given any instructions. We are up against unbelievably strong and evil forces. The Nazis have returned and they run the show.

All this is supposed to happen… I read the end of the book….
