It discredits him because it shows that his public persona is at odds with his real feelings. Why should that matter? I suppose you could argue that he’s a professional, and capable of preventing his personal feelings from interfering with his reporting. But the problem is, there’s much evidence to the contrary.

Tucker has a history of waiting to report on controversial stories until it’s clear they’re about to break. Then he jumps out in front. What he did instead was defend those who were asking questions about the election. That’s a very different thing, but it can be easy to miss, especially with someone as skilled as Tucker. People on here and other places can whine and cry and moan, about how fake Tucker Carlson is, how is isn’t one of us, how he is part of the uniparty, and so on, but they aren’t doing a drat thing other than crying or whining or moaning. Nobody hears them, and nobody cares.

And nothing could be stupider or more shallow than decrying someone who holds a position like Tucker does, because he hates Trump. Really? So, regardless of what an asswipe someone might be, as long as they like Trump then they are a-ok?

Talk about a lack of critical thinking.

If nothing else, looking at the wild backlash from people I detest going after Carlson tells me he has value. Because I know of at least one other person in the public sphere who evokes that same kind of reaction from my enemies those exact same people, and his name is Donald J. Trump.

Trump may be unlikable as a person, but his actions as president is what people should pay attention to.

We don’t have to personally like a person, but, if that person performs in a way that benefits you and most other people, then, don’t deal with him/her in a personal way. Jimmy Carter was a likable person, but, I hated him as president.

Yes, I helped lead a contingent of Freepers to Tallahassee for several days in 2020, to protest the Bush/Gore recount. I made several large protest signs using real estate yard signs, then used some cool software to print out large pictures made of some of the images that Freeper Registered had made like Sore Looserman and Kangaroo Court. Those signs ended up in photos of us on the front page of UsA Today and other newspapers, and ultimately ended up in the Florida State Museum.

And I considered going to J6 but knew better. The votes were already decided, so it was going to inevitably break out into anger and fights with police, and lots of people going to jail. Cost/benefit was clearly not worth it, and I began to more clearly see how Trump’s vanity corrupts his judgement, and puts the conservative movement at risk. I’m not even convinced he will even be arrested Tuesday, either, so far all we have is Trump claiming it, when supposedly the grand jury hasn’t even voted to indict yet or not. But feel free to book your tickets if that’s what’s important to you. Just don’t be surprised if only a few nutcases show up.

Wrong, I have defended Trump from unfair prosecutions for years on here. But as an uncompromising hard right conservative, I also don't like how Trump has continued to speak untruths himself, and defined deviancy down, which is damaging our long term ability to hold the high ground on important issues, both fiscal and social. He prohibits rational analysis by only ever speaking in absolutes, rather than trying to find the actual truth, which should be our goal.

But if you're convinced he will be, and feel you should do what he's asking, then by all means go ahead and buy your tickets to fly to NY or Florida tomorrow and go protest on Tuesday. I won't stop you. I just won't be there, either.

I'll probably even take a few days off from here to see how this plays out, and people to settle down. I purposefully skipped the whole week of the J6 fiasco on here too, and was glad I did. We unfortunately lost SkyPilot over that fiasco, who was probably my favorite poster, but I understand and respect why he left. It's hard to sit here and debate with angry people who think Trump is the only answer to everything, when much of what he stands for is wrong.

I agree. I think a lot of the Right is just bluster. When it comes down to it, the days of Lexington and Concord are long long gone. People have their own interests and we let the Feds get way too powerful to the point that it compares to the tyranny before the Revolution.
