OKC is like the best the place to be for a 24 year old up and coming guard, they have tons of ammo to build a legit contender right as he's getting to his prime.

I mean OKC is an Oil-baren Supersonics-stealing bad Team, but they are very competent and have basically made every right move you'd want a small market to make.

Yeah obviously you never 100% know but Shai is in a great spot to be the guy and they've built a whole team around him. Then just personality and skillset wise you couldn't ask for much more without being insanely greedy of a #1 24 year old to build a team around.

As for Poku I think people are just excited that he went from completely hopeless Bambi trying to ball to rotation player. He's just turned 21 a few months ago.

Its just a non statement because nobody said the hornets were selling at this moment. We'll see after the draft. I read recently that tickets were $1 again. Honestly IDK why someone would buy the hornets for 1.5 B or more. They could wait and maybe get it cheaper.

All these injuries. It sucks. However, to point out one player, how do you miss 51 days with a calf injury?

Kat gives me major Andrew Bynum vibes. I'm thinking he gets one(one more?) major injury and he just retires. Reminder that Bynum is still just 35 years old! He has been gone almost 10 years.
I'm not trying to downgrade the injuries, just saying you have to want to come back from them and work hard. Some players just aren't that into it, like Andrew Luck and others.

Now Towns extension doesn't even kick in until this coming season. The last year being 27-28 as a player option worth 62 million. Good luck with that.

It's about severity too.

IIRC KAT had a grade calf 3 strain -- right at the point of a complete muscle tear. In that context you'd be forgiven for thinking 51 days might not be *enough* time.

What?

He's had like 2 injuries in his career and one of them was when he was literally hit by a semi-truck. He also got COVID. Like none of this points to someone who is 1 injury away from retirement.

Calf injury's are really pretty bad and KD came back quickly from one and immediately tore his achilles. You don't really gently caress around with them. The take that "Some guys just don't tell their body not today" is a really, really bad one.

So its unclear what it was, but he is saying now sometime in January there was a setback, that might have been a re-tear. So now I think it wasn't neccessarily as severe but that the comeback from it was not clean and they needed to basically restart, which is a similar timeline as a grade 3. Either way. KAT has been on the sideline for almost every game so it's not like he was loafing somewhere.

Also Andrew Luck spent literal years rehabbing a shoulder injury not to mention the dozen or so other injuries he came back from before throwing in the towel. Not a great example of "not wanting it enough"

Because "a calf injury" could be any number of loving things could be anything from tightness to a complete tear.
