Hi everyone, I wanted to post about the US Goonfund that has now officially incorporated! To make a long story short, for several years now, there has been a Goonfund that brought in money from a community of goons with the intent of giving that money back to other goons in need of help. While that fund has fallen through, several of us stepped in and, in our roles as committee members voted on by the community, we incorporated a nonprofit company with the eventual goal of becoming a federally recognized 501c3 non-profit. So why am I posting about it here? Well, only a couple dozen people across the forums knows about this project, despite being active in some way since November! My hope is to post about it here and get the word out for people who would like to donate and help out fellow goons. Or, if you are in need of some financial help and looking for a lifeline as you live in a country with few of them left. Good news about the Goonfund! My grandfather would fondly remember about Oly Gold on hot summer days and refused to drink Rainier after it was sold Pabst since he might as well drink PBR. He and my grandma were both fans of Monarch if you were going cheap for booze and never got my aversion to it.

Was mistaken, not Super Sentai (aka Power Rangers) but Kamen Rider, Kamen Rider: Black Suns. Apparently it is an Amazon Prime exclusive for Japan and a re-imagining of an older series, but apparently also has a very strong pro-peace anti-racism and anti-LDP tone, which is a bit subversive for ostensibly a kid’s show.

Way better than one of my family's "oh it was different in the 70s" stories about getting drunk on Oly and accidentally starting a medium forest fire setting off fireworks. Or being drunk and beating up a white dude for illegal fishing because a fish and wildlife officer saw this dude doing it and would ruin fishing at that spot for everyone else. Question goons, what was that like European compilation cd that was on every commercial back like 25 years ago. I remember it best because I went camping with my Romanian best friend and his family and they played it nonstop, princess diana died that weekend and they allll lost their poo poo the whole time. He’s not, but I do think it’s important to consider why he has such a strong following and call out the exploitative parts when it’s necessary. Yes he’s giving away money or getting people cataract surgery or whatever but he’s using that to make this weirdly optimistic misery porn that takes advantage of the fact that people are in those situations in the first place. Kids see him as this charitable force for good in a world that’s kinda lovely right now and a lot of them are still developing the skills needed to think critically about what he does and why it might be “needed” in the first place. I don’t think he necessarily sucks as a human being but he’s definitely a byproduct of a system that is deeply sick and continues to get worse.

I can't speak to how accurate this is but he's also been criticized for things like giving away shoes to entire communities in poor areas of the world which hurts local artisans and it would be better to donate directly but that doesn't make for such a good/profitable video But like I said I can't speak to the truth of it

 New job alert Well, sort of. I've been a contractor for the last 11.5 years and I'm finally getting hired on at the company where I've been stationed all this time. I'll be doing almost exactly the same work and I'll be working in the same group with the same people I've always been with. The main difference is that I'll need to be more of a go-getter instead of kind of a slacker who looks like he's working a little harder than he actually is. The other main difference is the drat-near-50% pay increase and the transition from "absolutely no benefits at all" to "loving fantastic benefits package"
