More than just headcanon IMO. If you were a high-earning suit at Viacom back then, what would be your reaction to the already infamous Nathen publicly lip-raping one of the very few official highest-quality Garfield suits in the world? What would all those nice, sensitive Garfield fan families think about Viacom when word got out?

That and Nathen's crazy conspiracy hypotheses, moodswings, probable powders use, and general unpredictable behaviour.

If the license hadn't been pulled, Nathen might well have made a video by now of him full-on loving the suit (possibly with another guy in it). And uploaded it to a porn site.

Of course about all of us here would watch it for the entergagement and hate ourselves afterwards and feel soiled for the rest of our lives, so I'm glad the license was pulled when it was.

Maybe eGeez can negotiate a new deal with Viacom, hahaha.

Edit: I genuinely appreciate Nathen for refusing to return the Garfield suit to Viacom, when they demanded it after the license was terminated. Class move.

Even ignoring him making out with garf, his Superman meltdown happened in October of 2021, and he got his license pulled at the end of that year - while I have to imagine the decision was made before then (like mentioned, he posts lots of conspiracy theory poo poo especially about covid) it's still fully possible they saw that and were like "Nah this is the last straw"

Man this article is like an origin story:

quote:

Garfield taught me MEconomy

quote:

Thanks to George [Berkowski], I created the buzzword “ENTERGAGEMENT”— a marketing term which consists of entertaining and engaging customers, simultaneously. It is often used in UX/UI designs for mobile app or eCommerce websites in today’s short attention span as companies struggle to entice the customers to purchase in an interconnected world full of posts, information, and sponsored ads swiped up under your thumb in 1 second. The fancy word “entergagement” spiraled online because of GarfieldEATS.

quote:

In fact, I had all of Donald Trump’s books at 17 years old and I was mesmerized by his branding techniques mostly. I also loved The Apprentice, a tv show you can actually learn a thing or two rather than the Jersey Shores at that time.

quote:

Money for me meant struggle, hardships, elusive, and merely a heart-braking tool as it always left me and hardly came back similar to a lover.

:allears:

This Berkowski fellow is a new character I believe. Supposedly Nathen met him and the conversation inspired the infamous ENTERGAGEMENT. He looks exactly like the insufferable tech bro product guru you're probably imagining.

quote:

George Berkowski is an entrepreneur who has built businesses in manned space flight, online dating, transportation and mobile apps. His new venture is DeepAR.ai ~ a deep learning AI startup that provides a powerful SDK that allows any app or website to incorporate Snapchat-like masks, lenses, filters and special effects in a matter of minutes.

My first thought was exactly the same. It's impossible Nathen improved his grammar and readability that quickly (it would surely take decades, if he was amenable at all). So I'm guesstimating he hired someone to edit his screed, either for no pay and dozens of promises, or hired via e.g. AirTasker for like three bucks.

He wouldn't have used AI because he thinks he's smarter than it.

For anyone who wants to continue to wonder how eGeez is not a middleman.

I'm confused about what Egeez is supposed to be besides existing (lol) in the form of an app. Thank God Nathen decided to explain:

quote:

Connecting fans to licensees directly to find licensed products always at lower prices than brick and mortars or online toy stores. Consumers can finally have one single shop to access millions of licensed items by thousands of official licensees onboarded to the app in their licensed territory for people to find licensed novelties that they never knew existed without worrying about counterfeits. Egeez App will be powered with voice ordering recognition feature under your fingertips making it easy to order licensed stuff, so if you say “Spiderman”, you got it.

Now, licensees deserve to shine as they spend time and resources to make the best figurine, toy, or clothes just for you — the fans to enjoy. They deserve to be seen and known. There are cool licensed products out there in the world and unfortunately licensed items are confined to a few brick and mortars on few shelves only.

Paul McGrath, retail and merchandising expert, having held executive roles at Sears, Zellers, Dollar Tree, Rogers — The Shopping Channel, Loblaws and Giant Tiger, said: “Egeez will transform the retail industry for licensed consumer products. No more endless aisles searching, retailers have a limited amount of space they are willing to give to licensed goods. Egeez has no limitations on space, products, or licenses. The Egeez model is exactly what manufacturers, distributors and consumers are looking for. — no more listing fees or other costs pass on to the consumer. Egeez can also reach quality consumers actually looking for just licensed products. Target Marketing at its finest.”

Egeez can also be a platform for licensors and Hollywood studios to leverage their movies releases to sell more merch creating hype by exploring new channels like Egeez app for reaching more consumers since it is an aggregated marketplace for all brands not just Paramount. Users can send egift cards to friends and family also making it a magical and memorable birthday or anniversary. Egeez Adventures is also set to launch allowing people to find their official licensed experience, hotel, and event. Egeez app will make it debut in Las Vegas Licensing Show 2023 in June.

Oh, wait, I'm still completely clueless as to what the gently caress this does. I guess it's like a licensed store thingy that doesn't want to admit it's a store except Nathen has no concept of logistics and delivery and everything else? I've read Defense Department powerpoint flowcharts that make more sense than this.

He's stated that the licensee stores will fulfill orders. So eGeez will be nothing more than a middleman website (and an app with speech recognition), which will charge fees to licensees to be listed, yet also somehow display the lowest prices in the world for licensed merch.

I guess in Nathen's mind, which I envision as being a hollow skull full of gusty blasts of hot air blowing every which way according to whim, various loose white powders, and globules of fat-dissolved THC, all the product-producing multinationals will be beating a path to his door to cut deals with eGeez.

It’s not really a store though, they won’t have any inventory or ship anything themselves. That’s up to the license holder.

This benefits consumers because instead of typing disney.com to buy crap they can type egeez.com (a word my phone autocorrected to “green”)

This was exactly what I was thinking

So he's going to have the lowest prices, but he's also going to get a cut because if not the company can't function. That would mean that the licensees will also get a lower cut

Someone explain to me why a company would pay money to get a smaller profit

I think I see the problem. He spends his days wandering a ghost mall, little more than a hungry ghost himself. I think he sees empty stores in Dubai like The Disney Store and The Funko Pop Store that by their nature only sell licensed products and thinks they are empty because prospective customers spend their Disney/Funko budget at Walmart, who speculatively neither licenses products themselves nor has agreements with licensors preventing unlicensed goods from being sold. Therefore it’s these alleged contraband goods that are putting a dent in the license holders profits, because the people buying them are uncultured swine who don’t know or don’t care that they’re actually buying Dasney and Funco Peps. And apparently this is the great crisis of the 21st century. That money belongs to Disney, dammit!

This is my most charitable interpretation by far, that he thinks he has discovered some inefficiency in the profit structure for license holders. However his solution also makes no sense since it can only reduce profits for the them because egeez just gets in the way and doesn’t actually create any value in the service it’s providing. If there was any value at all to this, any of the companies could employ such a thing themselves at no charge. And they essentially do with their own websites and online stores! Most consumer products can still be purchased and sold directly from manufacturers or from established/respected stores (often brands and household names in their own right) essentially acting as official “dealers” for those products. They make it as easy as possible because want you to buy their stuff. Given that none of what Nathen has proposed is innovative or profitable I think he thought he could make money from striking deals with a handful of the larger IP owners and live off some form of royalties from sales.

Seemingly, the main thing Nathen is good at inventing is jobs for himself that make him sound important and allow him to live high on the hog while everyone else does the actual work. Concerningly, not content with being simply an eccentric orange-suited figurehead, the jobs he gives himself also vest in him large amounts of actual authority and control over other peoples duties and employment. When I think of the anti homeless screeds in particular, perhaps he sees those people as not contributing anything useful to society whatsoever.

It’s always projection, isn’t it?
