Even my bookie double checked with me to make sure it was real. It’s the single largest bet I have ever made in my life.

The very first bet I ever made in my life was trying to beat my Uncle in putt putt when I was 11. I bet him $5 I could get a better score. It was all the money I had. My parents gave it to me for my good grades in school. My uncle showed no mercy and demolished me and took me 5 bucks. I cried all night and my mom and dad were pissed at my uncle. Little did I know that was the start of this insane loving journey that lead me to this. One thing I have never done in my life is beat my uncle in pool. It’s the one thing I failed at more than anything else. It’s kept my drive all theses years and what has made me successful. I don’t know why I’m sharing this I guess I’m just rambling and reminiscing about my life.

I purposely slept all day today so I can stay awake for this fight and event. Let me tell you the sweat is unreal right now. I always told my self if I bet my whole bankroll and lost I would stop gambling. So if somehow I survive this cancer and lose I’m gonna be loving pissed off if I can’t gamble. The good things is a degenerate never keeps his word anyways.

Thanks for all the support I hope Hardy gets his face kicked in and never fights again.

FUCKKKK that felt good. I still cant calm down or think straight right now. The sweat on that much money being gambled is unreal. I can't even really explain the range of emotions.

I can’t say enough how much I appreciate the kind words. So a quick update. Chemo isn’t doing anything besides making me sick as gently caress. So after length conversations with my wife and my doctor I have stopped the chemo. They did a quick surgery and removed my gall bladder and my spleen due the how hosed they are from the cancer. So my time is limited and my wife and I agreed to spend that time partying our loving asses off.

So I booked a flight to vegas called in every marker that every deadbeat owes me and called in every favor and used every reward I had to get an amazing suite. I invited some of my closest friends and we gambled and partied all night. I was able to get them to provide a dealer and we played 5-10 pot limit Omaha all night long and had a blast. The next day a friend was able to score me some peyote which was top on my bucket list of things I haven’t done yet. So we ventured out into the desert found a beautiful area hiked for what seemed forever tripping my balls off. Eventually we made a fire and I wanted to wander off by myself. I walked as far as could until I could just see where I started. Found a huge rock climbed up on it and laid down and stared at the stars until the sun came up. Most amazing and beautiful experience of my life. It really let me come to terms with my death and just enjoy the ride until I’m gone.

The next morning we drove back to hotel and I realized my bankroll is still pretty flush and since I’m going balls out then I might as well bet a big one. I know it’s not mma but I wanted to share it with you guys because this is the og thread.

What a loving night. Just woke up after playing poker for 36 hours I made 7 grand there. The suite went wild because everyone had money on nova. So we all lost our poo poo.

jase1 was a loving legend, he had a ton of great stories but one that always sticks out to me was some guy who owed him money found out he was in vegas and tracked him down to pay him back (in of itself wild to me but I guess this is normal if you want to keep good standing in these sorts of circles). They started talking and MMA came up and the guy was apparently MAGA or at least super into MAGA fighter Colby Covington, so jase gave him a ton of poo poo and offered to bet every cent (in the thousands) the dude just paid him back AGAINST this piece of poo poo fighter. The guy declined so jase made him watch as he instead made a bet with the casino for the same amount, then went off to watch the fight. Colby thankfully lost and jase was one of the few in the sports book hootin' and hollerin about it, and I think made the guy also come watch him collect his winnings, too.

He also wrote an AMA about pool hustling and other gambling endeavors: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3475307

Gambling guy’s stuff reads like a fantasy. Are we sure he was real? Invent a crazy story, bunch of crazy improbable gambling wins and then he dies of cancer? Reads like one of those 50 foot ant / Martin random stories from back in the day.

Like, I’ve known quite a few career gamblers and not one of them has beaten the house that badly that consistently. Just seems a little hinky.

Not saying it doesn’t happen. I knew a guy who won 75k at 22 playing poker online and bought a condo, an arcade golden tee machine and an Audi of some sort and threw a rad housewarming party. All were repossessed within a year. The only guy I knew who gambled for a living and “succeeded” was a trust fund kid who lost way more money than he won but didn’t care because lol trust fund.

It's fine.
Don't worry about it.
If anyone wants some good ongoing sagas, it is officially the start of Baby Lamb season, so Instant Jellyfish is reporting on all the baby sheep popping out at her farm, plus additional contributors posting about their baby goats: https://forums.somethingawful.com/showthread.php?threadid=3886000

(Fair warning that they do talk about animal death and injury sometimes in the natural course of birthing farm animals or animals passing on.)

To be honest, I think threadbans aren't very productive. So as long as Seth is contributing to a discussion and not just shaking his rear end invitingly, I would rather let bygones be bygones. If anyone feels different though, they're free to go for it.

It’s cool as a concept but the house always wins. There are days when you will feel like king of the world but in the end, you’ll lose more than you win.

My best gambling story was getting stuck in Vegas after a bachelor party. I was flying standby using miles so I got pushed out a day. Figured I’d make the most of it and as.it was Sunday, Iwent to the sports book in the bellagio. Big commanders (then skins) fan and they were playing the cowboys who were favored by 10. I took the money line bet with all my slush money for the weekend for the Skins to win straight up - which happened due to a really bad PI call as time expired and I did a little jig dance on one of the bar tables until security pulled me down and told me to behave.

I vaguely remember running up to the cashier and yelling “PAY ME” while slapping my ticket down only for the bored looking woman at the counter to tell me that I had to cash out over at a different counter and I was making an rear end of myself.
