It’s gonna be tiny, but it looks like they are using a yellow tinted one, which may work well as a reading light. All of the bluish LED lights hurt my head.

I bit when I saw that post. The most appealing feature was the yellow light, which I'm hoping my husband can use when he lets our dog out in the middle of the night and probably not wake me up.

Then of course I had to find at least two more pieces of cheap poo poo to round out the $1.99 special. Ah, Ali. At least they had some nominally useful things in that category.

So where do you place the cocaine and where the heroin?
I'm thinking the classy way to go about it is neat lines of blow on the plate and a couple of prepared syringes in the mouth but I'm open to new ideas.

I bought one of the CuteBee book nook kits and it was pretty great:

This one was music themed and it came with a bunch of fake album covers, half of which were Coldplay for some reason. So I printed up some custom albums and pasted them onto thinner cardboard and they turned out great. They also include a bunch of weird-looking vinyl records they expect you to use, but there's enough normal-looking ones included as well to substitute. One of the pieces was a disc with Michael Jackson's hollywood walk of fame star printed on it, and you're supposed to put it on the Victrola. (I just used a record piece) So if you get this kit, don't be afraid to customize so things make more sense.

The instructions on these kits are perfect. The 3D renders exactly match the pieces and I was never confused. The tolerances are pretty tight, so you need to file some things down sometimes, but it all holds together snugly. The LEDs look great and there is a touch-sensitive on/off button in the front. It took me maybe 10 hours to put it all together. Highly recommended for <$40.

Are the lights run on battery and manually turn on/off or you can do motion activation?

It runs off a AAA battery pack that hides in a trap door in the back. There's a touch sensor in the floor at the front. The LEDs plug into it, so maybe it would be simple to wire it into a 3v power supply and some sort of motion sensor?

I think some of the older kits have a physical switch on the back, which seems like a pain. I'd recommend one with a front switch at least.

Did you figure the tags out? I get an API error trying to insert in-line from my phone.

I admit looking at those bookcase kits for a long time, I’m not sure my brain could withstand many hours of tiny work though. Hopefully you don’t set it up first then work on the details, my hands wouldn’t fit either :(

Maybe ali sell some adopter kit that can wire the battery pack to a 24hr timer switch, so it turn itself on during 6p to 9pm everyday.

I used to have a faux candle light has that function.

Has anyone seen a multifunctional pen like this that isn't chintzy plastic?

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000954971477.html

I've had one like this for a few years and it's handy when traveling, I've used the screwdriver to tighten a screws on my glasses and laptop for example. But it's flimsy and some of the paint is coming off.

The closest I found is this one but it looks kind of huge and the bits apparently don't fit inside which defeats the purpose somewhat. It's also very tactilol.
