I may have mentioned this before but Bil Herd, the guy who designed the C128, did a few youtube video about what a shitshow Commodore was in the mid 80s and why the C128 is such an over-complicated mess.

Ah, that XG50 player was amazing. I remember playing some anime or game midis made for XG and they sounded fantastic.

And if someone knows where I can find a midi of a dueling guitar boss battle metal thing it starts with drums and some heavy riffs and was called something like «battle for the end of humanity» or something like that 😅

The only title that rings a bell is "Battle Without Honor or Humanity" from the kill bill score or "History's Greatest Decisive Battle" from the giant robo score.

I'm leaving my job, but I've always loved the way this thing looked:

And that styling on the sides:

It's attached to a Wysong press break (a big metal bending machine) that was supposedly purchased in the late 80's or early 90's, and only worked for a few years, and has been red tagged and collecting dust ever since.

And a bonus:

This is attached to a Cincinnati press break, which is still operational. Not sure the age of this one, but it's been around since the building opened in 1977, don't know if it was new or came from one of the other plants.

Around 1999/2000-ish, schools here used to be happy to give away old 80s computers, but thanks to dumb moral panics about identity theft and paedophiles whipped up by newspapers a few years later they suddenly decided everything had to be destroyed. So a whole lot of cool stuff got thrown into industrial shredders - lest some hacker manage to extract bank details from a computer made in 1983 that has no built-in storage, or a pervert somehow abuse a child by getting hold of a dot matrix printer they once touched.

I have an old black and white CRT and I was wondering if it's possible to hook anything up to it. Below is a picture of the back, I'm guessing the 75ohm is an aerial input?

I've a partially busted Atari 2600 that only outputs in black and white so I wondered if I could attach that

Edit: it's literally just occurred to me that it's "external antenna" and not "extant"

2nd edit: someone else has tried the same thing in the past and had luck with a coax to 3.5mm jack converter so I've ordered one

If you have one of these laying around, try it out. You might be able to reduce the chain of 4 connectors and just connect the RF cable directly to the TV.

(ideally it would be mono, but these are way more common)

I actually do have a similar cable to that but with red/white/yellow AV connectors.

Unfortunately it didn't seem to pick anything up, guessing that AV isn't a signal in the same way UHF is so the TV can't pick it up.

Tuning wise I'm stuck with this

It’s just a regular tv signal afaik which is why you had to tune the channel in the first place on those old consoles.

At least one YouTube guy did a thing where they hooked a NES up to some piece of TV broadcast hardware and sent it wirelessly to an old TV tuned to a suitable frequency for shits and giggles.

Yeah unfortunately all google results seem to be for companies selling used cases that are all out of stock, or a couple aftermarket ones that haven’t existed for 15 years

Man where did you get a black and white tv that doesn't have VHF?? An Atari or any other game console will only broadcast on channel 3 or 4 (or maybe 1 or 2 in japan?). There's a lot of weird things about that tv, actually. Is there a country that just didn't use VHF?

Your coax to 1/8" converter won't work either, so you might want to cancel that order. I guess what you'd need to do is demodulate the atari, or get a console that outputs composite video, then find an RF modulator that lets you broadcast on UHF frequencies. I'm not familiar with any products that can convert an RF signal from one frequency to a different one in one step.
