i almost did this with skyrim but finally finished it last year. i spent literally like 2-3 years playing it passively on my switch, my guy was so OP by the end that the final dragon was as easy to beat as any other dragon in the game, and i was so underwhelmed by the ending of the main questline that i will probably never play skyrim again lmfao. probably for the best as i haven't played any earlier TES games and i know Morrowind and especially Oblivion are like the heart and soul of the TES series, so i'll be more inclined to play those next time i have the urge.

started a new run of New Vegas and am making a concerted effort not to hoard poo poo lol. i don't have a safe dwelling to stash items in yet and my strength stat is low so i can hardly carry anything anyway

Having a panic attack right now in FF5 when I realized I never went back to Walse castle basement to get the treasure there before going to the other world, and now Exdeath just blew up Walse castle. All that loot...gone...

I'll hoard weapons and armour etc in like New Vegas and similar games if they're uniques. Not even use them just dump them into my storage box in whatever base I'm using and abandon them there. Consumables get used without hesitation though

Absolutely! If a game gives me safe storage (or better yet, a house with weapon racks etc that I can pop stuff in, like in Skyrim or Witcher 3' B&W expack, then I'm 100% keeping every unique weapon to put on display (or stuff in my storage chest, if that's all I've got)

:hai: In Morrowind I'd always take over a house to be my character's and then I'd lay out all my unique treasures on display when I return between excursions.

first time I played System Shock 2 (coop, with a friend, late middle school) we took the time to move all the elements from all the different chemical storage locations to the one in med-sci. Also loaded that room up with extra copies of every weapon in as good of condition as we could find even if we never intended to get the skills for them, extra medkits/hypos, every single implant we found, and also several potted plants and every Tri-Optimum mug we could carry back there. We loved that room.

When I played Torchwood and Torchwood 2 you had a special stash shared between all your characters, so I filled it up completely with unique equipment for classes I never even played, just in case.

Serendipitously, FFX is a major reason I broke this habit, I liked Rikkus alchemist system and realized I could just farm or buy all the essential stuff for actual fights, and it was cool to see what combining rare stuff did so a lot of flans died to some incredibly busted magic.

What pwns is when you go down one path and think "this path is too long, this is progress" then you turn around and go explore the other fork and the game immediately caves in the path behind you. Choosing between paths is the only true anxiety I have known in gaming

The only time I actually enjoy this feeling is a first run of a FromSoft game. I play offline the first time so I don't know whether I'm about to stumble into a boss room and wipe out the preceding half hour of exploration by dying.

Come to think of it I'm only really bad about hoarding rare items in their games. I never use the unique blood vials or jizou statues or whatever because they're way too scarce and when it's final boss time I usually forget I have them in the first place

i sell off everything that's not equipped and maybe 1 or 2 emergency items. got to try to always have enough money that i can buy all the new stuff at shops right away. if i leave town without buying it maybe i'll forget or won't be able to go back. without +4 atk everything feels like a farce until i reach the next upgrade point and get everything under control

The boss gauntlets in Sekiro let you freely use your items and would give them back to you when you went back to the main game so it was a good excuse to go nuts with the items I never touched otherwise. Kuro's rice ball almost singlehandedly won the Inner Genichiro fight for me, Kuro ftw
