Could only get pages to load half the time but I didn't see any tiers or anything from what did, so this is going to be quite the apocalypse of basically any org of any type that isn't some billionaire's pet project or already huge. Mind you, with the side effect that now nobody will know if not having the checkmark actually means anything.

I guess he's mad because he thought being favored by musk would come with some kind of perks, lol

Musk once promised that Blue users would get revenue share on ads shown near their tweets. He forgot about it basically immediately and never actually made it happen, but there's a lot of people who paid up for Blue and are gullible enough that they're still waiting for the paychecks to show up.

He just won a lawsuit over a dumb misleading tweet with a lot more money behind it, and somehow has an extremely good track record in this area, so better not

It's just them hedging their bets, it'll probably end up being used for 1) pet reporters who are very cozy with management and 2) some verified account for people to leak stuff to.

Yeah, since paid for checkmarks it's pretty much exactly this. Thing is if all the respected companies/orgs. and individuals leave than that stops mattering. No ones going to trust an "offical" Nike or New York Times Myspace page or whatever.

Some independent testing identified more words flagged and censored by Twitter, as well as word combinations not flagged.

While the "trans" adjective vs. "transwoman/transman" sounds innocuous at first, the accepted saying in queer circles is "trans woman" or "trans man" since they are just another type of woman or man, like "tall woman" or "black man", while removing the space to make "transwoman" and "transman" turns them into a group separate of women and men.

It's somewhat interesting to see that, apparently, some of the slurs in the list were not filtered before but are now - which means that Twitter is having a look at this feedback, but not in a "oh poo poo, roll back everything!" way.

Content related to the Ukraine war getting special treatment of some kind isn't really shocking, given how much misinformation, propaganda, blatant racism, and straight-up gore content is being posted from it.

Hell, look at the issues SA has had with objectionable content being posted in Ukraine threads, and the special treatment moderators have had to give the subject as a result. And most of that objectionable content has just been reposts from Twitter.

This does not make sense when, again, aggregate indicia also indicate improvements. The belief that things are worse is false. It remains false.
Even from the available info it's easy to see how this drives homophily within groups previously identified by the algorithm, and the degree to which its extant language model dictates the structure of that homophily. These rules reflect and reinforce informational feedback into existing groups.
