I like stuff where I have a multitude of choices, things can go off rails, and the story is mine to make. XCom, Starsector, Star Traders Frontiers, Battletech with the Roguetech mod, FTL, Invisible Inc., most roguelikes. 4x is good, turn based is good. Grand strategy would be good if anyone but Paradox made them because gently caress waiting 12 years and paying 500 dollars for a complete game. But even amongst this stuff there are things I won't buy or regret buying. I've never bought Battle Brothers despite it being right up my alley because it looks boring as poo poo. Mount and Blade Bannerlord is cool but eventually you're just gonna hitting 'send in troops' every three minutes when the AI factions magically generate another 800 man army no matter how crippled they appear to be. It's whatever though. Some people look at video games and think 'good enough' and have a lot of fun, I look at them and think 'try harder' and don't. No matter what the situation though I will post outlandishly in this thread, and often about games I've never played, because that's what this thread is for.

One thing left out of the $60 game discussion is how many more people own computers/consoles and play videogames each year. They're selling virtual licenses for the same price it used to cost making and delivering cartridges.
