So, whats the over/under on the judge slapping Trump with gag order as soon as he's arraigned on Tuesday? 5 minutes? more or less.

With the indictment still sealed I'm even less willing to make confident statements than normal.

otoh it probably won't take him too long to go "this judge is a tyrant hint hint" even if he doesn't go full Alex Jones during the proceedings

I'm sure he's going to go into some riff during the pleading phase and the judge is not going to be amused.

They’d better because next week is liable to be wild.

In addition to calling the Manhattan DA “corrupt” and “socialist” and of course encouraging Chud Nation to murder him, Trump is also prepared to “politically gently caress ‘em up”

What's the legality status of it? If he were the current president bringing down his governmental authority on the guy I can see how that would be no good. But the case here is a defendant planning to politically advocate against his own prosecution, which doesn't seem like a conflict of interest.

I kind of don’t believe he actually said the “politically” part, which may be why it isn’t in quotes in the article

If he did say it, it was probably how people add "In Minecraft" to statements they make online, thinking that protects then from liability.

I imagine the USSS is busy working out contingency plans for how to protect him if he has to spend a few days on Riker's island.

I am sure they would actually enjoy that overall, a prison is designed to control people's movements, you can easily protect the the body of former president Trump in that situation,

And it wouldn't be like Trump would go into a shabby area, he'd get a nice cell, he is a former president and they aren't going to dump him into solitary.

The one poster said "live-steamed" instead of live-streamed and the follow up joke was about Albany arraignments, which was a pretty good reference to the Steamed Hams bit from The Simpsons.

quote:

Principal Skinner: Oh, no, I said, "steamed hams." That's what I call hamburgers.
Superintendent Chalmers: You call hamburgers steamed hams.
Principal Skinner: Yes, it's a regional dialect.
Superintendent Chalmers: Uh-huh. What region?
Principal Skinner: Uh, upstate New York.
Superintendent Chalmers: Really. Well, I'm from Utica and I never heard anyone use the phrase, "steamed hams."
Principal Skinner: Oh, not in Utica, no; it's an Albany expression.

Yeah but a prison is still a prison, even if you are in a 'cushy' area. (If such things even exist in Rikers). I can't imagine him sleeping on a prison bed and not being able to troll social media at 3 AM would do a lot of good things for his heart. If he did die in prison the base would loving explode, and conspiracy theories would make Epstein look minuscule.

I honestly wonder what removing all sources of media from Trump would do after the initial few days of him freaking out from not having any sources of instant gratification on hand. Like, just a week of no internet, TV or newspaper. Do you think it might mellow him out just a tad, or do you think he would actually collapse into a ball of white-hot rage that is visible from space?

Judge could order his access to any device be limited or removed - basically no access to Twitter, Truth, etc. I'm not sure how that works if people tweet or post on his behalf, but I'm sure it's been done before.

Yeah, it would be a pretty easy bypass for him to tell someone else what to tweet, though if that person uses his official TS account I don't think the judge would be that amused either. More likely his proxy would tweet under their own name, but that wouldn't get nearly as big a reaction.

How much authority as law enforcement does the SS have? Could they actively stop him from interacting with other people in this way?
