If you guys remember those Youtubers who put a hundred VHS copies of Nukie through a woodchipper for charity, they just posted an update

HopOnPopsicle posted:

Patreon Update:

Nukie reborn!
Hello friends! We're making a video about some behind the scenes projects we're working on. One is to do something with all the Nukie shreds we have. Our plan is to use our large VHS tape to create a negative silicone mold (strengthened by plaster) and then use some kind of clear resin to encase all the nukie shreds (which will either be melted or burned) we're not exactly sure yet. This is sort of a trial and error process, but we're documenting each step on video. The final result will be one large Nukie tape which we will then throw out of a helicopter into Lake Michigan!

wow that's way cheaper than I expected

Is that preorder price probably sticking around for a while? I want this, but also I want to wait for the Kino sale thats apparently happening soon. And Arrow has an Easter sale next week (?). I would rather not spend all of the money right now if I can avoid it.

It won't get more expensive if that's what you're wondering!

They're usually great with stock/inventory so there's not a risk of it going out-of-print from too many people buying it even at that price anytime soon

Also Arrow stuff goes on sale/reduced prices fairly regularly, either directly on the site or on other retailers like Amazon, although it might not necessarily be included with all the other noticeably-discounted stuff on the next immediate big sale due to being a new release (like how Criterion exempts preorders and newly released within the last month or 3 from its annual 24-hour half-off sales)

Basically you should be fine waiting a bit

I’m keeping it light this month, grabbed Zodiac Killer and Lady Streetfighter and tossed em the $10. Whatever the gift is they’re sending out for this one will probably be worth $150 again lol, at least this time they didn’t frame it as an actual product which should quell the fury from last years April fools.

Shout! Factory will be releasing The Shaw Brothers Collection, Volume 1 in June, with 11 films included. Also releasing Motel Hell on UHD, as well as Blu-rays of The Strangler (1964) and Private Parts (1972).

Also, if anyone is a Best Buy TotalTech member, it seems like there’s an unofficial 15% (maybe 20%?) off of UHD Pre-orders. saved about $4+ bucks each on Exorcist 3, John Wick 4 Steelbook, and Police Story 3.

Looks like it's all 60s era stuff, so pretty early. The only ones I've seen are The Bells of Death and Sword of Swords. I remember liking both of them, at least, although at this point I've seen so many Shaw films that they all kinda blend together.

I don't know, I watched National Lamporn's Frat House the other day and it was pretty alright. The performers managed to perfectly pull off that late 70s/early 80s teen comedy acting style. The hardcore scenes were so brief you could cut them out and probably still have a feature length movie.

It paired well with my second feature from VinSyn, Surf II. Surf II was one of the dumbest movies I've ever seen and I kinda liked it. I feel like it's one that'll grow on me with repeat viewings. It's never laugh out loud funny, but I was grinning throughout.
