Quantum Break leaving Game Pass despite being a Microsoft published game is interesting. Most probably due to music rights or actor likenesses...

But there's the slim possibility that it opens the door for it to be fully and officially incorporated into Remedy's Weird Fiction Universe they're building instead of just connected by Easter eggs at the moment.

I really liked this game. It also features Lance Reddick. I was really hoping to see him work with Remedy again :(

I did think it was pretty light on the number of force powers you could earn in the game, so there's plenty of force powers they could put in the skill tree

I’m old now so I actually don’t necessarily mind a power reset in a sequel. If things are fairly simple already keeping and expanding in a new game is usually fine but I also look at Batman Arkham City, Origins, and Knight where by the end you get so many abilities and so many different enemies that you need to fight with specific abilities that by the end I’m mildly flailing until I remember the right combination of buttons to push.

Arkham Knight is the funniest example of never resetting abilities ever because from the start you have like 20 different novelty batarangs.

Bought Grim Dawn years ago and I'm giving it a shot, pretty fun! I never got too deep into Titan Quest but I recognize a lot of inspiration here. Almost never play ARPGs in Hardcore but I'm giving it a shot here, made it to (I think?) the end of Act I on my last guy before eating poo poo. All the different class combos are keeping me from getting bored by starting over, currently running a Forcewave soldier which I understand is a very good attack, and picked up Occultist as my subclass but haven't gone too deep into that tree yet.

Thats fair but the powers you unlocked in the first one were about 50% wall-run or double jump that require 0 mental energy to keep track of. The unlockable Force powers were Push and Pull, so basically the "bare minimum Jedi" starter pack.

I think that to beat the game on normal and maybe even hard difficulty there isn’t any need to optimize. Most builds only have a few active skills so I don’t think sticking with one class would be an issue

In GD you'll often spend the first 50 levels or so investing into one class heavily anyways, which is pretty much the entire game on the first difficulty level, but you will absolutely want to pick another class eventually even if its just a dip.

Jul 27, 2006

You don't have to put a ton of thought into the second class, either, because you only need to pay attention to its buffs. Once you don't feel like there's anything particularly useful to do with your main class points, look for a secondary class that either has buffs that support your damage type, or all-around defensive buffs. That class will most likely have other relevant buffs/passives for you (unless it's Demolitionist)

How is Way of the Hunter? I enjoyed call of the wild, and I'm hearing that WotH feels like a small team building what they wish CoTW was. But I've also heard that animal AI sometimes freaks out and bolts for no reason. That sounds absolutely infuriating in a slow-paced hunting game, and I can't tell if it's a design flaw, or reviewers screwing up and not realizing it.

I just finished with DREDGE myself too.

I agree with the others that the last area or two perhaps felt a bit too gimmicky but nevertheless I still had a lot of fun with the game. I even enjoyed the little bit of story there was. The fishing was enjoyable, although towards the end the one special skill you get made it a bit too easy to get the rare ones - but I guess it's fine since you're nearing the end there. It still had a pretty exciting atmosphere throughout and especially the night romps were sometimes quite hectic.

For me it was a 12+ hours to the ending and I felt like I got my money's worth, and I will still continue for a bit to get the things I missed. Although I'm guessing the good ending was not the one where I brought my wife back from the dead against her specific wishes and woke up the loving Dagon in the process, eh?

And by the way, once you go for an ending, the game tells you so very clearly and then you can continue later to get another one if you like or just continue playing (I didn't get all the upgrades yet nor all the fish, and I definitely plan to try).

There's a lot of ways to add new traversal options without stripping existing ones, something as simple as 'climb boots' for slick surfaces or something.

The first game was charming as hell despite having a story that seemed like it got cut in half and then never changed around to accommodate it. The highlight was listening to the enemies dialogue while sneaking around or the combat reactions.
