the article specifically notes an uptick in target date funds. if there actually is a marked increase in retirement investing from gen z, i wonder how much is driven by newer best practices of just having everything be opt-out automated systems instead of consciously opting in

Vanguard's Target Retirement funds have a 0.08% expense ratio and are basically just slightly more expensive than getting a total stock market. Zillenial here; I do not like the taste of milk by itself. I like a lot of things made with milk (like Ice Cream and Cheese), I even like Chocolate Milk, but plain old milk tastes gross and I use Rice Milk in my cereal instead. Admittedly part of it is that my older brother had a dairy allergy so we weren't raised with milk in my house but rather Rice Milk; I figure I'd probably enjoy plain milk a lot more had I been raised on it.

All my parents and grandparents are severely lactose intolerant, but I'm fine with it, inexplicably. They all also get The Blush and I don't. I used to drink milk all the time but I fell out of the practice in adulthood because sometime inbetween the late 90's and 2010 the quality of most mainstream milk products nosedived. In your typical modern supermarket, you might have access to decent milk, but it'll usually be the higher priced stuff. Everything else now has weird chemical aftertaste and really just kind of tastes thin and bland and weirdly sour. Apparently a lot of this has to do with how corporatizing pressures on farming eliminated most stuff that wasn't just shitloads of cows crammed into ugly conditions and fed weird cost-saving feed. Nearly nothing left on the shelf is grassfed. So if someone grew up in gen z or later millenial I usually assume that unless your parents were shelling out for pricier organic brands or local farm delivery (if even available!) you would try what you had in the house or what your school lunch served you — and wisely and correctly despise it.

Heartburn fuel. Yes and no. The WOW counties have been shifting more and more towards D's. That was the main change for the more aggressive gerrymander that got instituted in 2020 (due to the current court calvin-balling redistricting). Kelly who's up for going to the Wisconsin supreme court is literally the guy who was arguing in favor of gerrymandering in the past. And has worked for the republican party law groups since losing in 2020 for the supreme court. He will be partisan in the extreme. So this is a very important election for not just Wisconsin but national election integrity. He will 100% vote to overturn any D election win if a case is brought before him.
