Debated where to ask this but since they classify themselves as Black/Punk Metal I guess this thread works. Anyone got any info on Truchlo Strzygi? They showed up on my Spotify recs, along with Al-Namrood, and are hard to find any info on when I Google. I know Black metal has a known problem with poo poo heads and I learned this after finding out Mgla are shits.

I have listened to Truchło Strzygi for a while and they are Almost Certainly Not Sus (the highest grade handed out to bands from Poland)

Also if you have to deep dive to find out if a band is iffy then imo save yourself the sanity and just enjoy listening to the music and go from there. Not trying to tell you how to consume media but yeah.

Give Mörk Gryning a go. They’re the band that pulled me into the genre. For more recent stuff, I’ve been enjoying Ninkharsag’s latest album. And Emanation’s album The Emanation of Begotten Chaos from God was a pleasant discovery that it took me too long to stumble across. Abstracter’s Abominion is great, if you don’t mind some genre mixing. Ditto for Cult of Occult’s Anti Life.

Yeah Firienholt's pretty cool. Their new album that just came out is about The Witcher 3, lol. I just discovered this. i love thorns!! weirdly underrated imo. binging helvete and black metal: evolution of the cult recently (both fantastic!) made me listen to them. i forget which one i heard it in, but re: the murder, i just feel kinda bad for snorre now.. he didn't seem to have wanted to drive varg to kill euronymous, even at the time -- he's just like very meek and bad at saying no due to vaguely specified Reasons from childhood  he also doesn't know what a major chord is, bless his heart. i think that's pretty black metal:  his youtube channel is great! he just uploaded a video about grymyrk! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dxim-m0Vi7o

Hi thread I'm finally making a post to recommend this book - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tonight-Its-World-We-Bury/dp/1914420365 I picked it up from my local metal record shop and, despite seemingly flying under the radar of the larger book world, it is fantastic. The look inside should give you an idea of what the book is about, which is a history of black metal from a lefty perspective. I'm halfway through the book and I've earmarked 2 dozen pages.
