New Arms Dealer is loving rad and way better than what we had. I don't really care about people being salty you can't one shot the boss or whatever. It's just more entertaining. New Shadows could skip the first pyramid escort, but besides that it's fun. I haven't had a chance to run it at high difficulties so I guess we'll see if that changes tho. Seasonal BGs rule tho and I'm keen to see them folding into VOps.

Ran new lake of shadows today for the first time and at least on hero, I thought the escort parts were fine. There's a lot of enemies to chunk through so it's not like you're sitting around waiting like in wellspring.

I liked new arms dealer well enough, really my problem with the reprisals has nothing to do with them specifically and is twofold: 1) removing the old arms dealer/lake of shadows is removing content from the game, there was no reason they couldn't stick around alongside the reprisals 2) old arms dealer/lake of shadows were great for onboarding people into GMs, which can be really daunting. Lake of Shadows was my first GM and it helped me get into that groove and learn how to play that style

Warden of Nothing is also still around. At any rate, my first GM was Devil's Lair and it wasn't too bad.

I'm guessing there's some weird technical difficulty that made them not want to port it to the new engine, but oof. For contrast, Gambit is Bungie's forgotten hated stepchild that hasn't gotten new content in four years, and it still at least gave two years each to Cathedral of Scars and Kell's Grave before shoving them down the memoryhole.

I was paying attention to it last night and gliding a bunch as titan does seem faster, maybe because it's as the crow flies, maybe it's because people stop sprinting to take a few shots. Using my super doesn't generally heal me, right? I think I'm sometimes panic popping my class power and then dying before I get much value out of it. Is there anything in this game like the Payday card that gives you constant but slower health regen instead of regen that can be delayed by damage? I hate hate hate being near death, crouching somewhere, and taking chip damage that would be meaningless except it delays my healing. I generally try to run guns and class options that give me some other healing sources but if there's something I can aim for that just fundamentally changes the mechanics I'd love that.

Bastion aspect for titan gives a void overshield when using class ability, but void healing is mostly going to come from spreading Volatile and procing Devour/picking up Devour sprites. Solar Titan has a couple of options for healing (including a heal grenade that you can just throw at your feet) so that might be more your playstyle

Super ability doesn’t heal you, but in pve (maybe pvp too, but I wouldn’t know), you get pretty significant incoming damage reduction while in your super. There are a couple mechanics for health including your recovery stat, heal, cure, and restoration. From memory restoration is the one that is uninterrupted by incoming damage and some of the unkillable-est builds have things like high-uptime access to 2x restoration or whatever. Where the game is at right now the general advice for pve survivability is build for 100 resilience for the 30% damage reduction. Stat effects are rounded down to the nearest 10 (so 99 is the same effect as 90) and you generally don’t get any benefit beyond 100 (tier 10). Chest armor mods make a difference as well, with elemental resists being important in content where there is a threat, and things like concussive dampener (for the variety of splash, aoe, and stomp mechanics) and sniper resist helping as well. E: as a “bad player” I generally have some survivability builds in each class that o can lean on for harder/low-player content, and I will tune away from them towards damage output as I get more comfortable with the activity or get more players involved. This is stuff like loreley or alpha lupi titan, assassins cowl or invis hunter, dawn blade or stag warlock type thing. There are also weapon specific things like riskrunner’s arc damage reduction or the Lament’s heal on hits. uwaeve fucked around with this message at 16:08 on Apr 5, 2023 |

I'm currently playing Solar titan because I prefer how both the melee and super are ranged, because distance and cover are almost always safer options in PvE shooters, and I'm making use of some healing options, but I didn't take the healing grenade because I find grenades are just too useful at both clearing out troublesome packs and/or piling on a lot of single target damage. I really like having a primary that heals on kill because it makes clearing out chaff red healths with my infinite ammo gun that much more rewarding in between moments when I pull out the finite ammo guns to get big damage onto the boss. I'm still about five points away from the soft cap so I'm not really bothering to mod my gear much because it cycles constantly, so I'm mostly thinking out loud for the next session or two where I hit the soft cap and hopefully have the gear progression slow down a little. Still need a couple more pieces of noble constant type 2.

if you can spare one or two mod points there are a couple that make picking up Orbs of Power heal you/begin restoration immediately; if you’re set up to generate Orbs by, say, popping a shield with a matching element, you can really boost survivability that way

Yeah, I was looking at that combo last night. I think I Was arriving at grenades making orbs on kill and orbs healing.

If you don’t have it, let’s find a way to get you through a LLS for loreley, and be aware picking up a hammer that has done damage heals you and refreshes your hammer…so with a little aggression and practice at not airmailing your hammer past a dodging enemy, you can rub against things and hammer yourself back to life. For always hammer, unbind “auto-melee” entirely and bind charged and uncharged melee to the same button. This way you only punch if your melee charge is missing (as opposed to when close to things). To avoid losing your hammer, hop before hammering or look down at like 45 degrees and hammer stuff in the knees/judge what’s beyond your target. Hammering up at a boss’s center mass, a wizard, or at something on a ledge or up a ramp/stairs = high risk. I’m usually falling into a group of enemies to get the first hammer off, it won’t scoot far, and you land on it to get it back. It makes a sunspot! That heals you! Every time you kill with your infinite hammer you make a sunspot! That heals you! Pair with heavy handed mod to gain armor charges, then the class item melee finisher thing that gives full melee charge on a finisher if you have at least 3 armor charge for the ultimate insurance setup. As you get better with the hammer you can use armor charges for other things. E:since you have infinihammers, start with “make orb on charged melee kills,” and the cure on orb pickup and start regen on orb pickup in legs. Between sunspots , orbes, hammer pickups, you will feel much less vincible. I think we have a new fragment that cures on solar grenade kills as well, which pairs well with solar grenade or the double fire bolt bullshit in the artifact. uwaeve fucked around with this message at 16:40 on Apr 5, 2023 |

Yeah if you do solar siphon that's 3 in your helm (or 1 if you've advanced your artifact far enough to get authorized mods: solar) and the grenade one for orbs in your arms is 3 or 1 if you have authorized mods: grenades, then the "your health begins regenning immediately when you get an orb" and "you heal when you get an orb" ones are 1 apiece in legs, so you're looking at, at most, 3 energy needed in 3 different slots and even if the item didn't already drop at 3 energy it's cheap to get there e: with authorized mods: solar you can get solar siphon and kinetic siphon for 3 total and that should cover any weapons you'd want to use right now as a solar titan, until you start unlocking the void things fast cars loose anus fucked around with this message at 16:41 on Apr 5, 2023 |

Yep Solar Titans have lots of ways to get healing and damage reduction if you build for it. with the right mod and aspect/fragment loadout you can create sunspots (they heal you), fire sprites (they heal you over time on pickup), and power orbs (can slot a mod to make them heal you). my typical solar gameplay loop looks something like pop barrier (to buff my melee from HoIL) -> consecration hammer -> cleanup with Calus Mini Tool -> pop heal grenade if needed (which is now buffed x2 because of HoIL), rinse, repeat. with consecration hammer I'm essentially Becoming The Grenade so having the healing grenade as a fallback isn't typically a problem for me except when i forget i'm not running with a heal grenade, rip
