Figured out the fix was to do a complete clean install from scratch.

Man, the biggest bummer about jumping into this game after a 3(?) month hiatus is having to remember all of the controls.

 in the new GAMMA update, Sin start with the Knot/Lucifer artifact and can also select from the Chimera Hunter for their starting loadout. It's the exact gimmick I wanted to do for a replay but I find Sin really goofy and kinda incongruous with the setting.

I know they're based off early alpha designs from SoC and got supplanted by Monolith which was probably for the best.

Good news, everyone: The person who created the Gunslinger anims has made his work public again and given Grok permission to include it in Anomaly. Grok is hoping to have an update out this week re-adding the anims.

That's great to hear. While it's entirely the author's choice and I respect it, it's sad to see cool stuff waiting forever on big mods to release.

Call of Chernobyl itself was in dev limbo for a long while before someone leaked the mod, pissing off the mod team who'd put in a ton of work, but also leading to an actual real release of the mod when there was none in sight at the time.

Which is where modern STALKER begins imo along with the source leaks and the unsanctioned MISERY 2 merge Call of Misery, where the misery devs were also in discussion mode forever about a port to CoC.

So it's really nice to see someone actually says "use my stuff before I release my own mod, folks."

The new auto loot feature they added to GAMMA is really nice. I'm using its default settings which conveniently field strips and takes only the usable/repairable components from a weapon. You can configure it further to selectively auto disassemble usable barrels from guns and break down items, armor, ammo, etc in the MCM menu.

A one press button to take exactly what I want is going to be so clutch in spots like Radar where I'm knocking over one guy for his gear and trying to scurry away before reinforcements come.

dont know how I feel about the changes to NPC looting yet. Its nice that they wont loot your kills anymore but kinda annoying finding bodies that are 'claimed' by npcs wandering somewhere on the other side of the zone. Also noticed they dont actually loot anything they just let it sit there?? And it seems if you save, quit out completely, and reload the claims will disappear and you can loot them freely, im assuming thats a bug.

I only played a little bit of the new version on Sunday after I finally got everything working, so I didn't realize that that particular mod was now enabled by default.

Just in case, I think the relevant mod is called "211 - NPC Loot Claim" under the "202 - Optional" section of Mod Organizer. I may go back and disable it.

Arghy

I never liked that loot claim mod because NPC's wouldn't loot anything so the bodies would sit there and they had some sort of magical sense that knew when you looted it so they'd yell at you from across the zone. It'd be better if you could loot the bodies out of LoS so you'd just have to drag the body away to loot it haha.

You're not a real STALKER unless you disable the stash weight limits and build up a hoard so massive it crashes the game if you ever try to open it.

I just grabbed the latest GAMMA installer and did an update after not having done any of the hotfixes/updates since the weekend. My game is running a lot smoother now. I've also enabled the new optional prefetcher thing that adds a bit of extra initial load time but seems to lower stuttering though I'll still get it occasionally.

Apparently the sorting mod has been disabled for now because it was lowering FPS. I'm waiting until the weekend to do a deeper dive back into GAMMA. Hopefully they'll get the sorting mod back to working order because I haven't realized how much I've gotten used to it until now.

its especially impressive when you consider that its running 200+ mods on top of another mod which was built on top of another mod for an infamously janky game engine that was developed over 15 years ago. In over 300 hours of GAMMA i think ive only crashed 2 or 3 times that I can remember

Sounds like both of these things might have just been addressed in a hotfix this morning:

quote:

Pushed an important hotfix:

- Remade NPC Loot Claim from scratch: no performance hit, full compatibility with Sorting Plus, cleaner and simpler code, doens't spawn items on NPCs which means saved IDs, should be compatible with any quest, also claims mutants, keeps claimed bodies between saves and reloads (up to 60 bodies, then it resets to avoid memory issues and busy hands). It uses raycast to detect bodies and blocks the interaction input rather than messing with inventory window. Thanks to @pibe naranja for the idea and to Demonized for specific code snippets grabbed from his scripts .
- Sorting Plus performance fix thanks to Raven.
- Sorting Plus enabled by default.

Thats awesome he fixed it because it made sense and would often lead me to either murder or follow NPC's who looted something nice haha. You can do it yourself by just having some discipline and setting your no loot radius to 20m so the AI will grab bodies. I still want a stash system where overloaded AI's spawn a stash rather than carrying 200kg worth of poo poo--before i started fast traveling i once tried to drag a monolith body full of loot over to a stash and the body loving fell through the world with all my fancy guns on it haha.

I remember spending literal real hours trying to manually lug all my loot back from radar having monolith respawn every goddamn time then i realized oh hey i can turn off the weight limit for fast travel haha.

Should I keep disassembling all of the guns and armor under 60%, or is it just the parts themselves that need to be 60%? I haven't gotten further than Garbage yet but I'm wondering if I should have held on to that G36 now that I've got a little stash of green parts at the north farm.

So gun condition and armor condition are different. Armor condition is the sum of all it's parts, so you repair the bits and bobs and the armor is fixed. Or use a glue tube/duct tape on the armor, that repairs the pieces. This is handy cause you can often get a new suit up to the point you can finish repairing it with consumables even if you're missing one of the more annoying to find components.

A gun's condition is its own thing. All the parts in the gun can be 100% and the gun can still be low condition. Think of it as how clean and oiled the gun is. There is still a cutoff at which gun oil doesn't work and it is less economical to repair a gun using the more expensive kits, but I don't recall what that is off the top of my head.

That said: I like to keep and stash away a copy of every gun I come across. Pokegun! Eventually I'll find the right bolt and gas tube to make <whatever> usable..

One thing about gun condition is that even though there is a cutoff for repairing it with items, you can pay mechanics to restore it even at 0%. So it's not the hard cutoff that part condition is where once it's below a certain threshold it becomes impossible to repair. It's still usually a better idea to use oils/cleaning agents to fix it before it gets to that point just because they're usually much cheaper than paying for repairs directly.

I always found it silly that for all the time the zones existed no ones thought about a loving wagon yet, this is why i say fast traveling while overweight is realistic because i'd just assemble my electric wagon and roll back to base. It'd be cool the see fallout style caravans in stalker 2 with light quads hauling tons of supplies. The book even had an anomaly vehicle that would remember its path and automatically follow it back. You could have stalker guide teams mapping a route followed by a war rig hauling supplies.

I've always thought of it as it being far too risky, faction presence in the Zone feels stretched too thin to support escorting wagons on top of everything else, and anything motorised would likely be far too loud. Instead I imagine groups of like, three guys, one of them with a wheelbarrow at most.
