I'm likely going to get this unless anyone has any reservations about this product -- https://mossmiata.com/909-471-cp-panorama-canvas-window-convertible-tops-by-robbins, the panorama back window seems slightly more useful than the regular but then again I've always parked it "by feel" Lamborghini Countach style if the roof has to be up, and barely need the rear window since it was pretty much clouded to poo poo when I bought the car. I live in SoCal and the car is based outside in the sun half the day due to pecking order, so I'm debating about getting a glass window to keep it from clouding, however I see people complaining that the glass window can fall out of the glue/stitching more easily and I don't need that hassle and I've learned that the fabric will fail at some point anyhow. I'd rather it be slightly cloudy than cause me deeper problems, and this original top lasted 70k miles/since 1992.

So maybe I should look at the original OEM top? I've got body shop buddies who can get me OEM stuff from the dealers cheaper than list but that piece is $1294 or something for laymen. Not sure if that's necessary... I paid $3800 for the entire car!

I also have driven the car literally once in 6 years with the roof up so buying a zip-down rear window seems unnecessary, and adding glass that could break/fall out of the glue/whatever plus add 9 ounces to a car that's already a Superleggera model (no AC, no anything) seems sort of questionable.
I'll probably have to replace the top this season. I still have what I think is the original one with the glass window, which IMO is great. It doesn't get scratched up and has a defroster. Doesn't fall out. This might not be an issue if you rarely drive with the roof up, let alone in lovely weather.

IMO almost $1500 doesn't make sense for the OEM one, the Robbins seem to have a good reputation. Though who knows if they'll last as much as OEM. I'll probably get this one: https://www.moss-europe.co.uk/hood-streamline-vinyl-defroster-glass-window-black-239-670.html

Fukkin rains too much here to be top down all the time.

Speaking of top, lady that owned the car before me put in a new OEM with glass top 5-6 years ago and man it is pretty nice for driving it around in the winter/rain. On the other hand, I still would prefer to try and find a black hardtop for winter up here.

FM swaybars are here (faaaaast shipping). Jack stands, locking lugnut remover kit and new locking lugs (Dealer either didn't have or didn't give me the key) are out for delivery. Just gotta get a jack this week and i can do the bars this weekend.

They also responded to my inquiry quickly and said that they'll have the fancy controller for the Hush-O-Matic back in stock at the end of the month, so when that is around i'm gonna pick up the muffler, midpipe and controller.

Had a few minutes before work today so I jacked up the back end, set chocks, and put it in neutral and released the parking break.

Tried to rotate the rears, there was a lot of resistance. Started her up, put her in 4th and let out the clutch, nothing spinning at the rear.

Turned off the DCC, same result. Put her back down and drove back into the shop.

Guess I’m going to a mechanic tomorrow, sigh.

i feel stupid asking, but google seo spam is murdering my morning.

does anybody have a concise list of bulb sizes for the exterior of a 2020 rf? i couldnt find in the manual, and i want to LED it out, i hate incandescents. i'm close on tail lights but not sure if i need the all-red ones or the red/amber combo jobbies. I've got LED side markers and side turns, just need front/rear now.

Sorry I don't have an answer as I still have the NB but I was recently trying to find the bulb size for the instrument cluster and it was also a nightmare. No idea what happened because it used to be trivial to find an overview of all the sizes at like m.net or something but now I ended up just buying several different sizes from aliexpress that I've seen mentioned in different places, hoping that one of them will work.

Ordered a strut brace for the NB. Also ordered a shorty intake so I can fit the strut brace. The shorty intake is the same size as my standard one because they sent a standard one :v:

Was looking forward to banging that out this evening/tomorrow.

I hate just how bad the backup camera on my ND2 RF is. I just drove in the rain today. Despite wiping the camera down before leaving for work, by the time I got to the office the camera had a bunch of water droplets on it and was unusable when trying to back into a parking spot. Making it worse is that there was sunlight behind me so I couldn't see a thing.

Perhaps in the soft top it's easier to lean out the window or turn your head around, but in the RF there's such a big blindspot, and the crappy camera makes it worse.

The camera location is also basically unprotected from splashes. Are there any hydrophobic coatings that might improve this? An upgrade to a higher res camera would be nice, but probably not possible.

We were somewhere around the Living Hive, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

I’ve had both a soft top and an RF ND. With the top down, the soft too definitely has better visibility, but actually, the rear window is much smaller than on the RF so backing into a spot was way harder with the top up. My soft top was a 2016 too so didn’t even have the lovely backup camera.

Mazda in general seems to cut corners on backup cameras for some reason. I’ve had three Mazdas of recent vintage and they all had worse cameras than the Toyotas, Hondas and even Fords of recent years that I’ve driven.

I didn't have a chance to get to a shop today, my go-to mechanic is booked 3 weeks out and i hit up the local guys that advertise on the radio and never heard back from them. I went ahead and bought two more wheels, hopefully that is all that is damaged. They will get here early next week. This poor car was my dream car when I bought it and it has, in the last 30 months, been rammed by a teenager, nearly totaled out by hail, and now this foolishness. Ugh, I think I need to just buy another one to keep in stasis and just pinball this one around off of everything.

Master of the high hat!
So I just hit a small pothole about an hour ago going around 5 mph. Didn't sound too bad, but my LED headlight warning light went off, and also the auto high beam light was on but set to yellow (normally I believe it's green). Turned the car on and off 10 minutes later, and the light went off. Got home, nothing seemed unusual or off about the headlights. Anyone seen this before or know if I should be keeping a look out for something? Luckily I'm already bringing the car in for maintenance on Friday, so I'll make sure to mention this to the folks there.

So after talking to my longtime mechanic who does things on my stupid old cars for reasonable prices because he knows I care about them, and consulting with his kid who does wraps/a body shop guy who owes me on a paint job...

any thoughts on the idea of turning this Silverstone Silver NA into a BRG with a tan roof instead of navy blue? Along with some suspension accouterments and maybe a slight interior refresh? Maybe throw some bronze Wat's on there? What roll bar/hoop should I have put in while it's under the knife for 99% street use/occasional parking lot cone swerving?

I test drove a '23 RF today, it was an auto, mainly wanted to make sure I fit. It was a lot of fun to give it some gas and not move very fast. I mean that in a good way.

Local dealership has 2 GT manuals on the lot, 1 soft, 1 rf. But wants $1500 in tint/ppf instead of adm. I don't think either has the brake/seat package though. Do I really need it? Or I could order a Club, they said maybe 3 months. Idk how long I will have this. Also sales guy says he's never seen them get a blue one in. There's a '22 soft top gt manual for $32k. hmm.

I have a 21 GT RF. Personally I wish I had the recaros but I don't really care about the wheel and brake package. That said, I believe the GT should have some additional interior insulation and be more liveable day to day.

The infotainment system is slow and kind of annoying. I have read that that Mazda head unit hack can improve it but there are so many warnings about potentially bricking the system that I'm afraid to try it.

I'm 6' tall and get annoyed that my vision is obstructed by the rear view mirror and it's hard to see stop lights without leaning forward. I have been considering buying the Aurora/Blackhawk Fabworx lowered seat rails. Or possibly the Pablo ones but I don't like the idea of having to carry a wrench around to adjust the seat position.

I paid somewhere around $32k for my CPO with ~8k miles. $32k for a new GT soft top doesn't seem too bad and you may be able to get some very attractive financing if your dealership is like the one in Austin. My friend bought a white GT soft top with terracotta interior for ~$32 I think, got some sub-1% apr loan and $750 off from Mazda.

I removed the rear view mirror in mine. Check your state laws though. Only need a drivers side mirror and a second rear facing mirror (so, passenger side) in my state. Doesn’t help with stop lights, but when the top is down I look over the top instead of under.
