Reminds me of when I was visiting family down south, and after lunch my uncle asked if we wanted to go for a walk. The weather was nice and he mentioned it should only take about an hour, maybe 90 minutes, so I said sure. What I didn't count on was that for southerners a regular afternoon walk tends to include about a kilometer in elevation change.

Not a big hiker but I went on the St Catherine trip in Egypt and I knew there's a hike involve but whatever and tour company (you need transportation to get there) didn't really brief me further in advance. You walk up the mountain from midnight to like 4am when it's cold and dark, then wait at least half an hour on a windy mountain. Then walk the last bit up to watch the sunrise for 20 minutes, then go all the way down. https://i.imgur.com/Tn4JpNN.mp4
