realtalk, it's dumb but I really wanted to believe in the Ghost of Kyiv. I remember those days at the start of the war when rumors were flying fast and hard, and the Ghost of Kyiv mythos provided a great outlet for propagandistic belief. Intellectually I knew it couldn't be true but emotionally, it was what I needed to think about so I wasn't continuing to pace back and forth in my flat waiting to hear back from friends who lived in areas under bombardment. It's a great example of why propaganda is useful and, I would argue, necessary for the home front. if you're under worry that the next instant you could be reduced to free-floating atoms from a Russian 155mm shell, then gently caress it, the belive in the ghost of kyiv.

Russians were at Kiev days from taking it over and were defeated and had to flee in terror from the occupied territories, because the ghost of Kiev kicked their asses. He's real, strong and good.
