Everyone really needs to go back and see how great Vanity/Nemesis actually is

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDu7w-sZbUM

yes that song is the intro to those videos.

Yeah, its trashy, not a mess, there's some idea here. But its this weird some times trying to be goth rock? Not quite getting Patrica era Sisters of Mercy, not quite Danzig?? All the while trying to be Sepultura and ?....who loving knows.

And there's the charm.

I never have listened to the widely hated Celtic Frost albums but my introduction to them was actually the B-sides and rarities comp Parched With Thirst Am I and Dying, and the songs from V/N and Cold Lake seemed perfectly fine if far inferior to the likes of Circle of Tyrants or The Usurper.

Cold Lake is poo poo. I like it, but it cant escape reality.

There's something about V/N, its not honesty, but its trying?

Nothing after '87 is in the circle, though.

Into the Pandemonium does leak into dog poo poo territory often. I cant help but see like Beyond Dawn and In The Woods in it, though, who I like.

Caught Vader last night in Chicago. They were great to see, but Krisiun KILLED IT. I dunno what it is about South American metal bands but you can almost see a black cloud emanating from them as they play. Good poo poo!

Krisiun rules, saw them open for Suffocation when it was Frank's last NYC show.

Last night I saw Anvil with Midnite Hellion at a sit down theater in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania. It was weird and cool and you should go see Anvil at least once in your life, you want to see a Robb Reiner drum solo

Yeah, they strike the right balance between cheesy and awesome for me. Ridiculous gimmick played 100% straight, backed by actual good musicians and powerful vocals.

Chuck Schuldiner doing one of those metal guitar covers of a classical piece would have been awesome.

Yes.
So, Sacred Outcry released their debut LP in 2020, and it was one of the best trad/power metal albums of the year.

Well, guess what?

They're coming out with a new one and now they have Daniel Heiman on vocals.

I'm still actively heartbroken when I remember the story of Chuck Schuldiner's final year(s), an absolute textbook failure of the US healthcare system. The fact he seemed like a real chill and kind dude shouldn't make a 34 year old dude dying of cancer worse, it's still absolutely awful, but it does.

If these old dudes were so good, why didn't they write Spirit Crusher?

Sorta agree, thinking about it. Chuck Schuldiner had basically already done that thing with the first two albums, the later ones all went in new and interesting directions.
