Everyone should have that for food, housing, and health care.

TIL that BNPL plans are structured as 4 payments so as to avoid the 5-payment constrictions of the Truth in Lending Act:quote:Like every other lender in the BNPL space, Apple Pay Later loans are spread out in four installments. That number isn’t a coincidence, said Tom Y. Chang, an associate professor of finance and business economics at the USC Marshall School of Business.

Mr Hootington posted:Happy Easter. Neat site. The wealth distribution plot is fun: TBH this is a little more static than I though it would be? The US has always been deeply unequal, but would have thought the top 10% would have gained a larger share of total wealth over the last 50 years of destroying labor. edit: I suppose the top 1% managed to grab an extra ~10% of total wealth over that period, that's a lot Also interesting to see how the bottom 50% went negative total wealth after 2008 and when they just barely got back to net positive after 2020 the Fed's decides to declare war on excess savings. Weird coincidence. Nocturtle has issued a correction as of 18:36 on Apr 9, 2023 |

ACES CURE PLANES posted:I feel like the same also applies to an order of magnitude in the opposite direction too. after being homeless for a long time (thrown out by parents multiple times) and at best working under the table i got one bottom barrel job with the state i clung to for a decade before i broke me enough i can't work anymore (well, i could work, if anywhere was willing to accept 'its a crapshoot whether she'll be able to work on any specific workday' rather than sticking to a schedule or plan and that's just not compatible with capital) i can't avoid accepting financial assistance but homelessness makes the act of doing so pathological as well still got rid of everything i owned that i enjoyed or was sentimental (or both, miss my legos lol), still live ready to get rid of everything at a moments' notice because of the obsessive expectation that the moment you accept financial assistance from someone you have set a moment in the future where the unstoppable growth of resentment will destroy that relationship forever. time forever converges to a horizon at the next crisis where the street (and i can't work, don't have a car and am trans; likely death) lurks and it can be pushed back months at best so long as i've had boxes in a move i've never unpacked them still, makes me drat grateful that ebt and medicaid are actually available in this state, because i've been at the scrounging scraps from leftovers and sneaking poo poo from pantries level before (you definitely do not ask for food if you are already relying of goodwill for shelter) and would not like to go back atelier morgan has issued a correction as of 18:40 on Apr 9, 2023 |

We have gently caress-tons of programmers, plenty of goons (e.g. Alec and Harton) whose wives paid their way through their posting crusades, and probably more broke goons than the other two combined
