Me crush ass to dust

It's bizarre though that the new Spielberg/Hanks WW2 show is on Apple TV and not HBO. Band of Brothers has to be the most beloved mini series of all time.

I guess the writing was on the wall when Discovery was producing ads that mentioned House of the Dragon and 90 Day Fiance in the same breath, but it sucks to see this so plainly spoken about.

Seems dumb and against art. Don't really want a future where HBO is just a hollow brand name used to sell old Warner IP like Batman, Dune and Harry Potter, rather than original stories about actual people. Zaslav can eat my rear end.

AppleTV+ is the new HBO, the amount of quality tv shows they have created is impressive.

Yessss and a little no. Apple shows have a limited visual pallete -- you're never going to see an Apple show with significant visual grain, or really anything that doesn't have a certain insta vibe. An expensive one, sure, and it often produces good looking shows, but within a narrow band.

There's also significantly less programming about queer or working class people (something that, as far as i understand it, HBO has traditionally always budgeted for).

Apple does produce a lot of high quality shows though, no doubt about it, but it's incredibly unlikely to produce something like The Wire -- or more importantly something like Betty -- and that's a huge loving shame.

HBO did have it at one point I think, the project had been in development hell for like 10 years before Apple grabbed it. I imagine it's insanely expensive.

TBF I kinda don’t think HBO would produce the wire these days either.

Post Discovery, yeah, seems unlikely, but we did get We Built This City last year as a hangover from previous management.

Almost definitely won't see David Simon's Spanish Civil War series though.

It’s sad that once Succession and Barry are done this year, HBO has about 6 shows total I care about. It’s sadder that this still trounces Netflix.

Wonder if their site works with ad blockers or not. CBS all access tried it's best to not play with them at all, worked sometimes, which just meant catching it on [idk if we are allowed to say] instead.

The question is will they bother HAVING any UHD content or is it just the handful of movies they currently have?

Seriously, current HBOMax's 4k content is utterly laughable.

Right, which is why a 25% price hike is a slap in the face.

At the same time, my current sub DOES give me access to the limited 4k HDR content they do have, so they would be degrading that functionality at the same price.

My billing cycle is the 3rd to 3rd, gonna let it renew in May one last time and then that's going to be it for me for awhile. I'll grab free trials from Prime Channels once or twice a year to catch up on stuff and just hope they keep releasing 4k discs of their shows.

It's the sixth most valuable IP in the world, it's not dying, and they just put out a game that sold 12m copies in 2 weeks, and it's not even any good. They don't give a poo poo that the creator is transphobic, or any kind of phobic, because they are moneyphiles.

Nope. Literally any order works with the only thing I'd suggest as a hard line being "the final two are Once Upon a Time into Fall Out".
