Ok what’s all this about the Lion back? Is there any books about this or is it just in a codex release and we won’t get to read about his first words being “What the ever living gently caress did you do Cypher!?!”

Are there any good/informative books about the Fallen? How many are there? Do they have a leader? Are they in the eye of Terror, or do they have some other turf? It feels so nebulous as to be just a thing to give DA a vague purpose other than usual marine stuff.

Fats Dominar is on the case

Turns out I have one more LE copy of The End and the Death Vol. 1. My brother came through for me.

I’d like to trade this one for an LE copy of Saturnine, my favorite Siege book. Does anyone have one and want EATD?

And if this thread isn’t the appropriate place for this, let me know and I can open one in SA mart.

The Ark of Omen book is going to be the first actual fluff about him returning and that should be out this week. Beyond that they're going to release a book about him in the near future (Mike Brooks is the author).

In general the Fallen are (from what little I've seen about them) basically disjointed. Some are working with Chaos warbands, others are just individuals. There seemed to be an implication that Luther would return to be their leader once he was freed from the Rock, but otherwise they're just plot devices to get the Dark Angels to do things.

Is there a reading list for stuff that covers the knights errant and such before Vengeful Spirit? Lotta "remember when this happened?" about stuff outside the main Heresy sequence going on here.

There's also the Silent War anthology, which covers a few bits of action for a certain returning character.
If it's useful, someone earlier in the thread posted this neat reading list, which breaks things down into smaller arcs:
https://www.reddit.com/r/40kLore/comments/jjr9m5/cd8ds_personal_guide_to_reading_the_horus_heresy/

I'm just hitting VS in my own read-through. Not one of the top tier books, but quite fun so far. I'd put it on par with McNeill's entry in the first trilogy.

Oh yeah that's kinda useful. I'm still reading in order of release, but it's nice to know where I can make certain exceptions.

Yeah Silent War is the better one to catch up with before Vengeful Spirit IIRC.

I'm up to The Ruinstorm! I've gotta do some kinda lil writeup/review before I move on to Siege of Terra

Speaking of which, they posted an interview with Brooks on WarCo if anyone is curious:

I’m sure we’ll know more when at least the Arks book comes out this week (if not a whole lot more when Brooks’ book drops), but I think the general consensus is that he wasn’t in stasis like Guilliman, but legit quasi-sleeping for almost 10k years, and that’s how a Primarch ages.

Unlike Rowboat he hasn't been in stasis for thousands of years. Even if he was just sleeping that's a lot of bed sores and wrinkles.

Perfectly on brand for Primarch Corbyn's legions having a bit of blue on blue though with the entrenched psycho wing having a go at the "fallen".

I guess we'll see Kier Luther appear soon enough, guy would make a wicked chaos spawn.

Good morning, hello, how are you all.

Last night I got high and imagined two space marines from different chapters falling in as much love as space marines can and founding a new chapter together.

I will try to write this out at some point but I encourage the spread of the idea.

also I can think of a million ways to handwave it but do we have any mingled geneseed chapters that aren't renegade bands

The Minotaurs, afaik, are the only chapter that was officially stated in fluff to have Chimeric geneseed.

The Carcharodons are very strongly hinted to be mixed as well, but not stated outright.

i don't know of any official one but IIRC the space sharks are implied/speculated to have night lords geneseed as well as raven guard. There's been a number of examples of loyalists from traitor legions in the books and it wouldn't be too hard to imagine chapters founded by mixed loyalists.

My successor chapter's backstory involves them finding heresy-era genebank that was lost in the warp, used it to rebuild their chapter and are now trying to hide the fact from their primaris reinforcements.

I've tried, and I just can't get into them. I don't like the whole background. The dumb colour magic planes, the somehow even more egregious naming conventions than 40k, the whole fantasy kitchen sink dialed up to 11 feel of it.
