So, I feel like last year was such a great year for music, probably because a lot of artists worked on albums during the pandemic, and waited to release them until they could support a full tour. As a result, I think this year's been a bit lackluster. I've liked the new albums by Parannoul and Fireworks, but I've found the new albums from M83 and The New Pornographers to be a little boring, and not much else has caught my attention. Boygenius is okay, a little boring. Otherwise, from my perspective, 2023 so far hasn't been that great for music.

I think some bands, like yo la tengo, are having a bit of a late life "poo poo, let's do something great again" moment. Maybe covid has made everyone feel more mortal

It took a few listens to get past the vibe of "yeah but are any of these songs as good as Burn It Down from the Life is Strange soundtrack" but now it's clicked with me and I'm really enjoying the new Daughter album.

Well, I didn't get any tickets for The Atlantis, which is unsurprising given that they got over half a million requests for tickets.

I noticed, after listening to the Blondshell record, that they were coming to town, but that it was at this venue Schubas which holds like seven people. Maybe they'll upgrade venues like people sometimes do.

Also I am and always will be a sucker for the 303, an instrument that will never die; I like the most recent Sylvan Esso album.

Fantasy is one of those albums that I keep putting on expecting to give it another try and then before I know it I hear a familiar song and realize I got through the whole album (and on to an older M83 track) without realizing it.

I am also watching this and I just don't get the hype. I don't find their music to be anything special at all. Though Lucy Dacus did say that trans kids matter/trans lives matter and gently caress Ron DeSantis, so I can't hate them.

Yeah, we just watched, and some of the songs were great, but some of the songs (particularly that solo Lucy song) were complete snoozefests. My friend kept on making fun of the fact that they had 5 guitarists playing on stage.
