I just read a RAND paper on this subject today. A combo platter of DEW and kinetic weapons might be able to protect a fleet in a China-Taiwan conflict. Unfortunately, the details are a little bit classified, but the RAND guys linked up with MITRE to do some solid analysis and simulation. News coverage obsessed over him, SNL made fun of him, he basically got to be the Main Character For the Month of pre-Twitter US media.
