It costs like 5k to 5.5k USD to do one of these beetle trucks properly and get something that's both safe & show-worthy. This got slapped together from junk, looks like trash, and will last like a year before it leaks/folds/falls apart. Any saving grace is it's prolonged the life of both donor vehicles by one year. Wrong thread.

I think Honda was still putting them into CRV's as late as 01, but I'm not as familiar with B series engines as I used to be Honda moved away from vacuum advance between 88-90, depending on model. 87 was the last year of vacuum advance for the Prelude, Civic, and Integra (the Integra one caught me off guard, though I think they ran a Civic engine on the 1st gen, so it kinda makes sense). 90 for Accord. They went all in on computer controlled distributors (which is why you had to jump a connector under the dash to set timing instead of unplugging a vacuum line). 01 was the last year for a distributor (and for the B series as a whole) in the CR-V, but it was computer controlled. I think 02 was the last model year any USDM Honda had a distributor (02 Accord with its F23) - pretty much everything went to a K series except for the Civic.

I got distracted during installation and ran without that hose for over a year, since it it was a stock 350 and I'm used to some more power I just figured that the bad throttle response and low power was how a stock 350 felt.

My dad apparently towed a Catalina 25 sailboat from Dallas to Belize behind a 1977 Camaro. It's pretty flat the whole way, especially the coastal route, but yeah. According to Wikipedia, the top engine that year was 195hp. 6000 divided by 195 hp = 30.769 pound per hp. So lets round down to 30. My Tacoma has (I think) 276 HP, therefore it can tow, 276x 30= 8280 pounds. Corolla is about 160. 160 x 30= 4800. Nice!! Guess I can tow my boat with the Corolla and save me some fuel.

The natural gas Cascadias are only 400hp at 80,000lbs gcwr

On fairly flat Florida roads and highways, I've pulled a max of 8000lb (usually less) on the daily behind a 235hp 1/2 ton Dodge Ram. It'll do it, albeit a bit slower than traffic would like. Because of the added cooling capacity for the engine cooling system, transmission, and powersteering, it'd do it all day long in stop and go. Big brakes, good pads, a proper brake controller, and (Allah, PBUH, willing) working brakes on the trailer meant I could stop in a straight line. A beefed up suspension in good repair meant I could keep it under control in the general craziness found driving anywhere in Florida. A car can tow, sure. Even a FWD car or SUV can accomplish a lot when properly equipped and within a reasonable weight for the vehicle. Load equalizing hitches make this even more possible. If, IF, you keep inside the capability of the vehicle. If, IF, you know this and realize the shortcomings and strengths of what you've put on the road. A smart and cautious driver helps. Again, if. If I had done it anywhere else the calculus of how much truck is enough would have changed. In my line of work, a 1 ton GMC/Chevy or Ford box truck will do the same work as a combination. Which one you choose is up to how much money you have, what you are asking it to do weight wise, and how much maneuverability you need.
