They say it's to develop vaccines and other therapeutics but eg aerosolizing pathogens such as Ebola and H5N1 etc is basically indistinguishable from bioweapons research (ie it's "dual use") and so much of it is funded by the military. The rest is funded by pharmaceutical companies who obviously have a perverse incentive to see a return on their investment as well

Why are "dealers" putting Fentanyl in weed again? As an opiate addict in recovery, I only knew two people who would do this for fun. It seems like something you would not want to give the "just the weed" people and not say anything. Is this some low level cartel war against the gov? Another bad state actor? This the CIA doing this to give us a reason to hate China more? After chips from China , pivot to a XI-Cartel link killing Americans for the nightly news? Just curious.

When I was a kid I was at OMSI (science education center/museum) in Portland. One of the exhibits had a quiz thing where one of the questions was like: "The smallpox virus has been eradicated. Should samples be kept it secure labs for further study?" I, a dumbass, thought "No, it's been eradicated, why risk it leaking?" and selected "No, samples should not be kept." Then I moved the slider and it said "Wrong, it's important to keep and study samples to learn more about the virus."

We need to learn how to aerosolize Ebola to understand the evolutionary mechanisms behind how Ebola *might* become aerosolized in nature even though this has literally never happened in the whatever thousands of years Ebola has existed in nature... to protect ourselves against it. Even though it doesn't exist. Same with shoving furin cleavage sites into SARS-like coronaviruses lol I'm very concerned about public health
