The 'Bernie Bro' stereotype literally was just a rehash of the failed 'Obama Boys' astroturf by the same people eight years before. That they had an occasional example of someone who sort of fit the stereotype in media circles was probably a slight influence at best, but it was already a product ordered and produced to spec.
