Lmao. One of the big recommendations from tge Portapique Massacre report was that cops should at minimum have a four year degree in somwthing relevant. Not even a full month for yet another fairly judged report on police failures to be ignored lol

Surprising (because he sucks) but here's Halifax Mayor Mike Savage joining with some other mayors from out in the counties to petition the province to implement UBI... I'm afraid I must swallow my pride and describe Mayor Savage as 'based' and 'ftw'

Handing out money didn't save Kenney's stupid fat rear end.

Ralph had a very Albertan sort of charisma, in many ways he was a proto-Trump, so it worked. None of his successors have had that, for better or worse.

I think it's a good idea to set the precedent that voters can be bribed by giving them things they want, so that left-wing parties might eventually come around to trying it.

Ok I was wondering how this tied in to his obsession about being the Mayor of Toronto but he announced it alongside the Toronto chief so this is definitely really about more officers in Toronto, probably in response to the TTC violence or something.

Look Toronto, you could have taken the hit for the rest of us and just made him Mayor. He literally doesn't care about anything in the rest of the province but we're getting splash damage. I'm not convinced that he could name more than 3 cities in Ontario.

Wouldn’t want to do that because then politicians might have to actually deliver on something that isn’t wealth transfer to corps.

Since anytime Toronto (pronounced the wrong way) does something Ford doesn't like he just overrules it he basically is the Mayor. Just now developers from Windsor and Kingston can also bribe him (give his daughter thoughtful wedding presents)

This news about Ontario police post-secondary requirements disappearing is pretty mask-off poo poo. We already knew cops were just empowered highschool bullies, but it's appalling to be this blatant about it. I do remember hearing someone tell me back when I was in college though, that some police departments prefer you not have attended Police Foundations... in which case what the gently caress is the program even for?

We already take the hit for the rest of the province on a regular basis, so no thanks.
