They had plans for a system that could mitigate the issue but it hadn't been installed yet and since 4/20 is an epic date Musk decided to launch anyway - obliterating the launch pad, sending concrete chunks flying throughout the facility and a possibly toxic dust cloud over the nearby settlement and wetlands.

It's was a great success though because they learned so much from the launch like for instance that you need a flame diverter and 4/20 is hilarious.

I've never really seen much porn on Twitter other than the occasional local sex worker popping up in a Tweetdeck column I have that catches all mentions of my city. Until a week ago when I decided to search the hashtag for a popular AI image generator. I wasn't looking for anything particular, just curious what people were making with it. I ended up nuking my recent browsing history because it instantly returned some borderline child porn among the regular images people were posting.

I can't imagine it being popular for video given Twitter's compression makes everything look like it was filmed on a potato and the length is restricted to a couple of minutes, but I guess that could be considered a challenge wank.

Flame Diverters would mean the Army Corp of Engineers would get involved to do the trenching properly to the scale required, which would have raised issues about the protected wetlands, because Musk doesn't give a poo poo about anything other than doing it as fast as possible.

Him framing it as "anything past the tower is a cherry on top" is because he was managing exceptions, because he likely had a lot of smart people telling him it's going to blow up.

I mean typically you would establish cooling flow before firing rocket engines at it, thus removing the heat from the rocket exhaust as it is applied, and enabling the plate to remain at a structurally safe temperature.

That isn't the implausible part.

I'll be honest, for a few seconds I was thinking, "ok maybe there's something about this that I don't know, this thing is supposed to be able to VTOL-land, right? Maybe the idea is it flips around and then immediately does a deorbit burn"

Then it starts spinning around like exactly what my recurring spaceship-or-jet-out-of-control dreams have been like since I was a kid lmao

There's no way they didn't know from engine testing that they're not reliable enough, apparently that's been a known problem for ages.

I'm not going to link it because some people get mad over his past content, but thunderf00t's latest video a) has a clip of him literally saying "he's managing expectations" and b) makes the case that Elmo's really desperate to get Starship running because they need them to launch Starlink V2, otherwise none of this poo poo works financially and he's in deep poo poo.

Part of it is that there’s a biblical prohibition on usury, historically preventing Christians from lending money for interest but Judaism allowed the charging of interest for non-Jews, creating a market.
