I posted those Voynich-esque pages on /r/midjourney and they're currently one of the top posts :toot: Unsurprisingly someone hunted down my profile on MJ and shared the prompts (I wasn't trying to hide them, just didn't put in the effort to list them out). What I'm most interested in here is checking back in later to see if people are copying the exact prompts, or tweaking them to do something unique.

The point of them (and the reason it is currently the top post on the reddit sub) is being very different from what most people are generating with AI, and it should be an interesting litmus test of the AI Image Gen community to see whether people who liked them copy/paste the exact prompts into MJ to generate more of the same, or whether they're inspired to make further permutations to make their own unique thing.

Also here's a new one that's pretty neat

Vivid psychedelic ASCII Art made of profane eldritch sigils instead of letters, wizard diagrams an alien megatropolis. Voynich, seraphinianus --ar 3:2

There's also the start of an interesting discussion in the Reddit comments: These are obviously very unique images but now that I've posted them, they're not. The prompts have been posted several times throughout the comments and the cat is out of the bag so to speak - if I was using these for professional purposes, posting them would be like giving up trade secrets. Personally I think the strength of an artist working with AI isn't a single prompt but their ability to use inventive prompts to do inventive things so I'm not too concerned about it, but it's a real thing that artists working with AI tools could face

e: My favorite comments so far are the ones accusing me of ripping off the "psychedelic ASCII art" prompts that have been going around, which I originally wrote and spread around 4 months ago :colbert:

The unfortunate thing about dall-e/bing is the way it works in discrete 16x16 pixel chunks (unless something has changed since I last used it), sort of like each 16x16 tile is generated independently and then stitched together, so there are often problems with congruency of small details (like in the case of ascii art especially). Like in that image, it's as if it started a ton of tiny little 16x16 representations of ASCII art, but that's not enough space to have any more detail than a single ● so it gets stuck repeating that over and over - but it's actually kind of good (in theory) for other things like pixel art because that serves to keep everything mostly constrained to a grid.

I still think it has the best text interpreter of any of the AIs but those small details always hang it up on the stuff I want to generate.

I love bing for quick stuff, I honestly think combining it with SD as the first pass might get some good results but I haven't come up with something that SD can't do that bing can and I actually want to spend the time to do this with. It's much easier to just keep everything in SD if you are going to us SD.

wouldn't need a full AI just a Lora. I haven't done one in an artist style but it doesn't look super difficult.

Is there a current guide/howto for training loras locally using SD (automatic1111 or any of the less squicky distros)? I'd like to train some Voynich loras (i.e., one for the herbal stuff, one for the astrological stuff, one for the balneological stuff, one just for the lettering) but the UI itself isn't exactly self-documenting and most of the top search results for instructions appear to be out of date.

This isn't a bad video, bit outdated but the main parts are still ok. Though you definitely want more than twelve pictures if you can help it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=70H03cv57-o
I have a bunch of guides I downloaded but haven't read yet so I can't offer any personal experience yet.
Until then, this video is a good base overview what all the different methods of training actually do. Dreambooth, LoRA, Hypernetworks, and Textual Embeddings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVjMiJsuR5o

Can anyone reliably generate uh "weird" faces? Like intentionally show me a photo of an otherwise-human cyclops, or a person with three eyes, or teeth for eyes, or noses for ears, or just really huge eyes?

This seems to be really hard for these models, and I get why. I'm just wondering if there's a way to reliably wrestle the prompt in that direction.

These would be horrible AVs

Anyway, teatime for mice, children's book art. SD really has a problem with clutter especially at higher resolutions. I'm sure MJ would do better but these are still kinda nice:

When I was trying Midjourney I had the exact opposite problem, many of my fantasy portraits had teeth for eyes. Now I wish I had saved them.

Guy in the video uses the Kohya UI, which does not appear to be currently installable. Or at least the setup script just silently fails, and there's an git issue opened like a week ago for the problem.

Edit: Located the source of the problem: the dependency checking in the setup script is incorrectly assuming that all linux distros will set OSTYPE to "linux-gnu".

yeah it's terrible but it's the only useful one I got out of a dozen that actually has a sniper wearing converse having tea with a mouse. I might have to actually subscribe to midjourney now that I'm finally getting bored with making erotic art. It's been fun but now I have a model blend that will spit out high quality pics it's just kinda boring and uninspired and better suited to building a website or something to churn them out for profit rather than bothering to do it myself. I'm actually astounded that more people aren't running SD for porn and fetish content. Like I know a lot of people are but it's still thousands rather than millions going by the civitai model download figures.

for more mashing together of styles I'm getting MJ-quality results with "<subject>, surreal daguerreotype electron microscopy by Zdzisław Beksiński and H.R. Giger"
