Nah, Fenring's really important to tell us that Paul's bloodline really isn't the only one that matters in the Kwisatz Haderach plan, that it was actually a more robust scheme than it looks. And also to finally bring the Emperor to heel in the end when even his super-assassin buddy is like, "No, no, not this time, sorry."
