The episode on The Liver King was fun. I have heard $100k cited as the amount of money people spend on drugs to get ready for a year's Mr Olympia competition, so just lol that he spent even more than that. Though I suppose that's what it takes to go from "really jacked for a normal person" to "comic book character jacked" in a short amount of time.

It's not BtB, but I remember watching up a follow-up vid by someone talking about body dysmorphia with that lunatic as an example.

The Mengele episodes were real good, I liked the theme of “this man wasn’t a mad scientist he was just completely unconcerned with ethics when it came to experiments” and how many doctors were were just like him attitudinally.

I wish BtB would stop with the BetterHelp ads though. I’m sure the sentiment comes from a good place but they loving suck when it comes to privacy and how they treat their therapists

vince is like

so like

where to even begin

so like despite what you think of vince, he is actually from north carolina, because while his father (vince sr) was a major new york area events promoter, his dad basically left his mom right after vince was born, she eventually remarried but vince never actually met his dad until he was like 12

vince was sexually abused and beat as a kid with wrenches by his step-father and more or less got sent to military school and expelled

eventually he got out of college and basically left carolina to work under his father and after that it's been a 50 year ride of cocaine, sexual abuse, insanity, and broken lives that he will ultimately never be punished for

like I kind of get the sentiment but honestly like Vince McMahon killed Owen Hart, paid a poo poo ton of hush money to cover up his abuse allegations, and probably paid off an inordinate amount of people in the 80s and 90s to keep his wrestlers out of trouble

then there's where he beat the federal government on steroids distribution charges on technicalities and ruined his secretary's life as a result

like man the storylines are one thing but goddamn

and for those wondering, like the steroids poo poo is basically like

it is extremely obvious to people that vince mcmahon likes well muscled wrestlers especially in the 80s and early 90s

so basically a lot of his wrestlers did a poo poo ton of steroids basically with his tacit approval in the 80s and 90s and they were getting their drugs from a wwf paid doctor

and they would basically have all of their steroids sent to the wwf office where the secretary would collect them and then drive them out of wherever the wrestlers were at in their tour

and the doctor eventually was convicted by the feds of steroid distribution and they charged vince with it as well

and so basically what it comes down to is like

the doctor while he was paid by wwf was a pennsylvania state mandated doctor that wwf needed to use while they were running events in pennsylvania. at the time most of wwf's tv (this was well before monday night raw) was being shot in pennsylvania so a lot of wrestlers were just kind of used to dealing with the dude as a result by default

(please note that there is a corroborated story that vince was tipped off of the steroid charges when he was actually considering bringing the doctor on as actual paid staff and literally had the job offer letter destroyed just before wwf offices were raided)

the general policy of wwf was to use the main office as a forwarding service for packages since vince was running his boys on tours for literally a month at a time so they were bsically never home and they were like yeah we did that but we did that for all the mail

and when it came to trial there were some witnesses but it was mostly based off of a) the doctor (who vince's lawyers pointed out wasn't someone wwf chose and prosecutors didnt have evidence otherwise) who was also a convicted felon at this point and the jury didnt like that, b) Hulk Hogan who said he did them without Vince's knowledge (aka lying his rear end off for more favor with Vince), and c) a wrestler named Nailz who...look he got fired from wwf for trying to choke out vince over pay fuckery. this was pointed out. it was not a great move by the prosecutors.

and so basically vince escaped federal steroid distribution prosecution

i mean the part with vince being a bad businessman is at the end of the day

The only reason the wwf won is because all the other wrestling conpanies were run that much worse, not because vince was and always was a genius

He made some very smart moves in the 80s, but i will stand by my belief that he made roughly zero good business moves from about 1999 onward, concidentally when he started to take a lot of chairshots to his head
