Ross there was apparently some interest in your SDSU center.. so much so Miami had to make moves, so he actually signed a UDFA with a 65k signing bonus

how bad of an OT do you gotta be to have a RAS of 9.8 and not go until late 7th?

I doubt anyone in the league looks at RAS scores since it incorporates height and weight for some unknown reason. Height is a detriment for some positions and weight fluctuates daily. It's more likely they just look at combine results.

RAS is just distilling combine numbers to height / weight / position for prospective NFL players. It's a very simple single number to just give you a 1 second look to go hey is this player athletic enough to do what the NFL will ask of him. Doesn't tell you poo poo if they can play football or not, just: do they hit or exceed athletic benchmarks

Seems like something that teams have been considering forever, at least since the combine came to be. Just put into a handy little chart form.

Isn't the beginning or the end of any evaluation, just in there somewhere in some form or other.

My team drafted an RB in the top 10.

What's even funnier is that the Falcons got 1,000 yards last year from Tyler Allgeier, who looks like he could be something pretty special. No WR picked despite this being a team that relied on Damiere Byrd, KhaDarel Hodge and Frank Darby for depth last year.

At least they grabbed a couple of linemen.

Looking forward to another 7-10 or worse.

It's just percentiles rebranded. Great for media but I just think it's funny that Dawand Jones has elite size for RAS and falls to his knees trying to downblock because he's too tall.

Patriots overall now that we're finished:

Kind of a mix between a new style (Groh influence?) really prioritizing speed and athleticism plus old Bill trademarks like random overdrafts and a D focus high.

https://twitter.com/_AndrewCallahan/status/1652441620749381636

Gonzales could make it an A by himself - he has ridiculous potential (he's only 20!) and they even got an extra 4th rounder out of it.

The Offensive Weapons vs. what they ended up doing is the big question. We'll see, but this class was almost universally considered weak for WRs, so I can't argue too much with taking 6th round fliers instead of using 3-4ths on guys that would ALSO have a lot of questions. Definitely would have preferred a TE or two there in the middle - Groh said they wanted some of them, but they ended up gone before Pats picks.

Like the specialist picks. We needed both punter and kicker (badly, and semi-badly), and an overall weak draft is perfect time to hopefully fix it.

Illinois must've had some drat good DBs because one got drafted in each of the first 3 rounds.

WE ALL KNOW WHAT NEEDS TO HAPPEN
Jets thoughts:

15 - Will McDonald (EDGE): I've warmed up to this pick a little bit, but it was still a reach and the strategy was pretty puzzling. The Rodgers pick swap really hurt them if they wanted an OT. That said, he gives them a different skillset from the other pass rushers on the roster and I think he should be immediately productive in passing situations. Even if he's just a "get you off the field on third down" guy this year that plays 30% of the snaps, I still think that's a pretty good outcome for a team in win-now mode.

43 - Joe Tippman (C): Easiest pick to predict in the entire draft. Jets have needed a young center since forever. JMS is probably the higher floor player, but Tippman is more athletic and has G/C flexibility. He might start right away.

120 - Carter Warren (OT): Brandon Thorn likes him and I'm never going to complain about the Jets taking 4th round swings on guys that can be swing tackles/future starters.

143 - Israel Abanikanda (RB): Cool as hell pick. He's very fast. He might be the RB2 right away and should generally be a nice complement to Hall. Michael Carter might be done for.

184 - Zaire Barnes (S/LB): I can't loving stand Saleh's affinity for trying to turn college safeties into NFL linebackers. Please stop doing this every draft.

204 - Jarrick Bernard-Converse (CB): I don't know anything about this guy and I won't pretend to have an opinion about this pick.

220 - Zack Kuntz (TE): He's literally the most athletic TE prospect of all time. Never going to be upset with that kind of dart throw in the 7th round.

I kind of hate draft grades but I guess I'd give it like...a B-? It's not a particularly inspiring draft, and they also took a bunch of older prospects which I don't love. But I see the vision of just drafting the best athletes in an otherwise weak class, and I think several of these guys should contribute right away.

To bring light to the darkness, whether that darkness be ignorance, injustice, apathy, or stagnation.
The Bears draft seemed pretty solid, especially for a team with so many holes. Grateful for the OLine help (even if I’d have loved more instead of 1 year of Chase Claypool…) and the developmental DTs make a lot of sense, as does the unpolished CB. The RB and WR both seem potentially helpful, and everyone else is depth. Serious holes at DE still, but it’s fine, the Bears weren’t likely to make the playoffs yet anyway.

Here’s hoping Fields doesn’t die because the Bears decided not to draft a center!
