It is by caffeine alone I set my bike in motion. It is by the juice of Java that pedaling acquires speed, the teeth acquire stains, stains become a warning. It is by caffeine alone I set my bike in motion.
When my mom got a new '67 Camaro RS, red with black vinyl roof, I found a scale model kit in the same colors and built it for her.

Note: She would catch air on one of the roads in the area with us in the car. Decades later, 1996 or so, she drifted my Nissan 240SX (manual). taking my children to school. She was 66 years old by then.

That's the one I actually have. Same: AliExpress

Yeah, they're a bit different.
edit: which reminds me. If you ever do find the actual designer, let me know. I'd like to pay them for the design. I'm sure Ali didn't. I did find the designer of my '66 Batmobile (same scale as the AE86, which is LEGO "Speed Champions" scale) that I got on AliExpress, and bought the design from them. Their instructions were clearer than the video the Ali seller provided, too.

I hope this fits in this thread.

My brothers birthday is in a couple of days so I made him a tap handle for his kegerator. He has a 73 Deville so I picked up an old hood ornament from eBay and plopped it on some dogwood that I turned into roughly the right shape. I tried to get relatively close to his car color with the epoxy fill.

Having a weekend out in the country and came across a small car show gathering

HK Holden Monaro with the 186ci six in it. The car looks hot, but is slow

It really looks the part, but there were so many slow six cylinder Monaros of that era that ended up either in the junkyard or V8 swapped (as god intended)

Twin Turbo LS V8 VN Commodore. I hope the owner stiffened up the shell a bit with that power under the bonnet. Those cars were fairly flexible

XE Fairmont Ghia ESP with the EFI 6 cylinder and 4 speed manual box. I think this was the best looking of the XD-XE-XF generation

XC Fairmont coupe. The Fairmonts of this era had huge rectangle headlights, the Falcons had round sealed beam headlights

This XC had the 4.1lt six in it, being the only six cylinder coupe in this display

A fairly modified XB GT coupe

Another XC Fairmont coupe

A fairly stock standard XA GT coupe

A XB John Goss special. Gutless 4.9lt Cleveland V8 (this engine was only made in Australia as we dropped the Windsor at the time) with a two barrel carby

XC Falcon GS coupe. The GS pack gave it the extra driving lights at the front

A replica of one of Allan Moffat's XB Falcons. This car lives locally to me, as I have heard this thing driven in anger in the industrial estate that I sometimes go for a walk through

A fairly modified XA GT coupe

XB Falcon coupe. This is what Mad Max's Intercepter is based off

1970s Australian Falcon interior goodness

The difference in the rear treatment on a XB (left) and XA (right)

How did a country of (checks notes) 12 million in 1970 manage to secure their own totally separate auto industry? I can't imagine they were exporting just a whole hell of a lot of those to SE Asia. Fiji and New Zealand never were massive export markets

Maybe tariffs or it was just expensive to ship there? Czechoslovakia had its own auto industry and it had a similar population.

As mentioned, massive tariffs on imports plus being such a distant market with specific requirements, like strong suspension due to most of the roads being unmade and the extreme hot weather.

The tariffs started coming down during the early 1970s, but for a while there were replaced with import quotas

Yeah it's tariffs and shipping. It's from an era before free trade, before massive ro-ro ships and before even shipping containers.

Something we forget now, but the tariff issue was more complicated than just a tax on imported cars/parts. Higher tariffs applied to non-British Empire countries, to protect Empire trade for Her Maj against certain filthy traitor ex-colonies. Hence, Escort and Cortina and Vauxhall products along with homegrown Falcons and full size Holdens. The economy and trade used to be much more highly controlled too. Why did NZ get Ladas in such numbers? Because the Soviets traded them for milk and butter with our Dairy Board! (Legend goes they offered a submarine, we settled on Ladas)

Hell, NZ still had our own assembly plants up until the 90's, mostly slapping together CKD kits. GM ws the first, opening a plant in 1926, and by the time the last plant closed in 1998 (Toyota), almost everyone had been here in some form: GM, Ford, Mazda, Nissan/Datsun, Suzuki, Honda, Toyota, Jaguar, Rover, Rootes, Chrysler, BMC, Leyland, VW, AMC, Studebaker, Nash, Hudson, Peugeot, Skoda, Fiat, Renault.

The submarine was just a Lada which was driven into a lake 8 years prior.

Canada also used to have a lot of unique models despite sharing a border with the US. None of them were unique platforms like in Australia, instead they mostly mashups of US brands. Monarchs, Meteors, Beaumonts, Acadians and Fargos. Mercury had a full truck line. Canadian market full size Pontiacs had Chevy chassis and engines. Most of these are from the 50s and 60s, a more recent one is the Acura CSX.
