I watched the doc a while back and thought it was good. There was no widely overweight guy like in the trailer for the Taika trailer which they seem to be playing for laughs which doesn't bode great but I'll wait and see.

I don't see a single Sharlto Copley so I'm boycotting out of principle. Hardcore Henry knew what was up having like, 5 Sharlto Copleys. That's why it's among the greatest films ever made. This is how film criticism and analysis works, out of 5 Copleys...it may surprise you that the majority of films score 0 Copleys or 1 Copley.

I was pretty into the first Prehistoric Planet until I read just how much they made it all up out of whole cloth. I mean I figured there'd be some use of imagination and guesswork going on, but it turns out you can't infer much about animal behavior based on fragments of bones.

The documentary is likely inspired partly by the CM Koseman book All Yesterdays which imagines dinosaurs with speculative features and behaviours that are realistically plausible but without any evidence. For example, there's a picture of a Protoceratops herd climbing a tree to eat leaves. There's no evidence they ever did this, but they're the same size as goats which do that all the time and their feet were good enough for it, so why not? It's really about portraying them as real animals. We are probably never gonna find fossils of a theropod mid-mating dance but their bird relatives do it.
