Trying to buy yourself out of a mess with big bucks wasn't always guaranteed to work either, see Toyota F1 And yes, to really enjoy F1, a level of disdain for this stupid sport is necessary.

It helps to be a sicko that loves schadenfreude and gently caress ups. I loved Spa 21 because it was hilariously dumb and horrible, and I spent it posting here and with friends about how dumb all that poo poo was. People who like “racing” were mad but lmao they were watching formula 1 in the first place. Watching Ferrari do strategy poo poo that you can tell is wrong from your couch at home is hilarious. Baku this year was bad but it did give us the Tsunoda tire roll shot. It’s just a circus. Sometimes you get an actual killer race but you basically subject yourself to a year of bullshit with weekends of horrible predictable, boring racing, and even the little flashes of something special filter back to boring computer aided strategy calls. You really have to appreciate the good moments when they hit.
