Faction customization owns, and the tome system is really fun to discover different synergies with. AI can be a little sus at times on higher difficulties with its ability to reinforce itself, but it's kind of good with the way it forces engagements that aren't one sided in either direction (which leads to stuff like winning a battle via one of my heroes charming a grim reaper)

I went to clear out a node that was occupied by a bunch of birds and when they wanted to not fight, beyond the good/evil options there was one to rehouse them in an aviary at my city. So far I've made a race of evil cannibal necromancer dwarves and elves who have a bonus to tier 1 units so I drown my enemies in archers and animals.

Finished the golden idol dlc. Short but the puzzles are interesting, although the last level I managed to brute force some answers purely out of pattern recognition and educated guesses. I recommend it!
