I'm not like a birdologist so can't tell if it's 100% but this is pretty neat

I would say it's not 100% correct in that it implies a more restrictive specialization than there is in reality. For instance, there are thousands of species of birds that eat fruit but only one that looks like a toucan. And hummingbird beaks are specialized for drinking nectar, yes, but they also regularly catch and eat insects.

As a general guide it's fairly accurate though. Where are the ducks and the parrots?

From around 53s? I can hear some noise and it's not particularly high pitched, I wonder if there's something way off the scale at the same time too!

For years, I thought starlings were corvids because they are so smart and so convivial. Turns out they are turnidae.
I sing to starlings all the time; they have two very standard calls; a long call on a descending note, and another one that starts quite low, rises to a middling high, then descends to another low.
It's so nice to sing to them and have them respond with the same song :3:

They have a lot of other calls that are much harder to mimic, so I don't even try them. Even the other basic churring call is too hard for me.

my grandma lived in a trailer park that had a large pond next to it. lots of quality birb content there. mallard ducks, patrolling squads of geese, someone introduced guinea hens at some point. it was lovely. but most lovely of all was when one of these guys showed up and honored us with his presence for a while (not my picture)

Can anyone identify this birb? Friend thinks it was some sort of Starling, but I can't figure it out. The beak doesn't seem right for a starling?

Wasn't there an app for identifying birds from a photo? I seem to recall reading about a while ago but when I actually tried to find it, there was just one thing I found and it didn't actually work.

Mute swans are absolutely giant idiots, but they are also extremely careful parents.

I live near a place with dozens of juvenile mute swans, and watching the young ones pair bond while trying not to set off the wrath of the teen flock is both funny and poignant.
