baizhu is one of the best characters in the game but he came right after nahida who is the actual best character in the game, and also they already released yaoyao so even 'dendro healer' isnt a new niche.

a lot of the interest in baizhu was operating on the assumption that he'd be the first or one of the first dendro characters we got. instead he's a slight upgrade over an existing 4*. and design/character-wise he was one of the few Hot Guys in the game at launch but even in terms of dendro characters kaveh and alhaitham both exist now. also star rail is probably eating up a lot of people's attention.

Yeah putting him on the second banner after Star Rail launches was a decision. Sent out to die, especially when he partners with Ganyu to give you one of the worst weapon banners of all time.

His shielding is functionally really good and the healing delay doesnt matter (speaking as someone who plays the most suicidal character cyno, cyno is up 10,000 health and shielded by the time his burst animation ends). It's gimmicky I guess but isnt gimmicky a good thing when it's still performant? I'm not trying to shill baizhu I really don't care how many people own him it just felt like a lot of people really dont want to see any good in him while other characters get cut a ton of slack. Also I cant be the only one who thinks he feels way better on field than nahida right? Just being tall is a huge upside. Al haitham feels better than both ofc. The gimmicks don't make him play differently or interestingly enough. Especially because I don't have Cyno there really isn't anything I've seen that feels like I would need or want him to do it. I can agree he feels better than Nahida onfield, but I only have used her sparingly and as quickswap while yeah I'm just obsessed with how good Alhaitham feels to play.

Aside from taking a millennium to actually come out, I cannot stand that baizhu's got a coat fastened around his neck backwards. Not only is he dull, he doesn't know how coats work.

I wanted Baizhu but I'm not sure I want to keep wishing for him. After recently blowing 150 wishes on Al-Haitham, 84 on Yelan, 155 on Shenhe, and now 137 (so far) for Baizhu I'm running low on primos while asking myself "Is Baizhu still worth it?"
Has Baizhu exceeded expectations? If expectations weren't super high and Baizhu turned out surprisingly good people would talk about it. There's characters like Nahida or Yelan where people expected them to be insanely overpowered and they delivered on that. Then there's characters like Yae Miko or Tighnari who I wasn't expecting a lot from but was pleasantly surprised to find they are quality 5* characters. Maybe I should just grab Baizhu and find out. So far the only 5* character I truly regret wishing for is Shenhe.

For me I used a lot of wishes on the previous banner because I was excited about the 4*'s Constellations (mainly Kuki) on that one and did not mind at all when I won the 50/50 for Nilou since she's got interesting gameplay. So I'm happy to roll a bit for Baizhu but definitely spent a lot of my roll on the previous banner. Nice to get Kaveh

yeah if you get fischl shes a legitimately great character in every sense of the word and works well with almost anyone. her gimmick is just her bird buddy that she throws out who basically functions as a turret even when you switch to a different character.

What does this character do better than any other I have?" As a new player his banner is great to roll on, since it also has one of the most valuable 4 star off field damage units and another dendro damage character.

(sthenoooo) But new character X sucks because they’re not meta busted or whatever. Who are the other units you’re talking about for this banner?

Friends, do not be deceived. Baizhu is not wearing a coat in a dumb way. He is wearing a cape. With like, ornamental sleeves, or something? There is NO way to put your arms through those sleeves in a way that ends up comfortable.
