If we're doing cooking chat, gotta recommend using ghee. It's all the good parts of sauteing in butter but more flavor and a higher smoke point. I mostly use it to quickly sear meats in the cast iron on blisteringly high heat after pulling them out of the sous vide. The store near me sells a garlic infused ghee and it adds a nice bit of flavor to anything cooked in it. Also don't forget Chef John if we're talking amazing cooking YouTubers.

Genesis will spit out a huge list of poo poo that MEPS will want waivers for, and then when people come back from their doctors, MEPS will look at a vague or unclear statement the doctor wrote and send the recruit back to get clarification on that. I've got a bunch of friends who either recently entered or are in the process of going into the service bands, and seeing the hoops they've had to jump through and how many times they've bounced back and forth from primary care and specialists to MEPS has been insane. Most of the bands are now requiring people to contact a recruiter and go to MEPS first before even showing up at an audition, just because it can take 6 months to a year to get some of these people in. The solution would be revise the list of disqualifying conditions, but lol at them actually doing that. gently caress you if you've ever gotten help as a civilian, but once you're in we want to to get help (but gently caress you if you actually go get help).

I am assuming you're talking about Trent Palmer and his gripe, at least when I saw it, was very legitimate. The FAA was basically saying if you are making a low approach you have to land you can't abort the landing which is a nuts precedent especially for dirt/grass strips where you often need to fly low over it at least once to see the condition and such.

We also have an acknowledged problem with nutritional deficiencies. We have kids trying to enter obese and suffering malnutrition effects. There has been some rumblings from within the DoD to pressure the government to do something more with public assistance/SNAP/Food Stamps and universal free lunch. If I remember right, the school lunch program was pitched by the War Department because so many Draftees were 4F over complications from malnutrition and childhood deprivation. If we want better and higher quantity soldiers, we should be investing in our society- that means poo poo like free lunch, better education, and a greater social safety net. But that's socialism, and will help the poor we need for the grinder.
