The soup has bits in it because of the filling and it kinda mucks up the straw. It's way more satisfying to just eat the little basic ones where you get the entire experience in one mouthfeel.

I’ve been enjoying the poo poo out of this thread, especially watching y’all try to comprehend Indian street food. Yes there are varying levels of hygiene. I got sick twice eating roadside pani puri/phutchka in Kolkata and I have zero regrets. When I studied in Lucknow they had more strict rules and had to use filtered water and gloves, so much fewer tummy troubles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wut08bafQ7c I also ate at the Sikh dining hall (langar) at the Golden Temple in Amritsar and had the best daal makhani of my LIFE.
