This is what I did for our first real game. I ended up rolled because while I brought a ton of gun I did not bring much go and I just got styled on

The second game I took things with jump jets and less gun and ended up winning because he couldn't out maneuver my wasp

No but you can discard the option of fielding mechs that are not barely movable piles of barrels.

Are you putting together a single Lance that you want to function as your entire force, or multiple Lances to work together either in a game or your own story?

What balance mechanisms are you using (BV? Tonnage?), and what are the limits you have to work with?

I like to stick to either all moving the same speed or having two pairs of movement speeds.

Succession Wars makes it easier. Little bit of hole punching, little bit of crit seeking. I'll either go for all the same weight class or I'll pick one of each for flavour. Also the primary concern:

We've been playing 4500 BV. Im pretty sure proxies are fine but I'm trying to stick with what I own just to keep down on the overwhelming amount of mechs

And gameplay is just smashing lances against each other at this point

They're really good though. High mount weapons are super powerful. Not in the tabletop game admittedly but in first person sims like Mechwarrior.

They're good in the tabletop too.

The Fire Moth is one of the only 'Mechs (possibly the only 'mech, I didn't check the list) with the "overhead arms" quirk that lets it shoot over adjacent height-2 terrain (which is normally a LOS block) at a +2 penalty.

They were in Damien Reburn's spooky secret Fidelis force setting up the Fortress Republic before then.

It's an interesting thought that they're back in the Clan pecking order and can climb up again. Makes you wonder if they could be running old Republic equipment to participate. Maybe some previously-WoB designs that were cool enough to be brought back?

Justifiably Mad!
Alaric has also opened the door to allow the Nova Cats to become a Clan again, although he hasn't said anything officially, just that he wants to avenge their death at the hands of the Combine. Given that the Spirit Cats are currently split on protecting the IlClan vs. staying loyal to the League, there's a good shot that the Nova Cats will come back with no more abjuration, similar to how Alaric brought back the Smoke Jaguars.

I think Alaric realizes the only way the IlClan is going to survive is if every single Clan backs it up, and he cuts down on the inter-Clan fighting so they can present a united front to the Inner Sphere.

Reversing the process of the Clans acculturating with their Inner Sphere holdings and turning it back into IS vs Clans would be, imo, a huge creative mistake.

The Hells Horses should find some Inner Sphere cowboys to vibe with so they can have a weird cultural intermingling too. Clan Gay Cowboy will ride again.
